No pics, no vids. Useless thread. I know this already.
Met up with JayL and a couple other guys at PIR drags after the Corksport dyno day. Bunch of guys with 3's and Jason with his Miata.
Saw JayL make maybe 6 passes. Every last one was 121mph. Every last one was .4 seconds faster than the one before. Last run I saw was 11.5. Holy hell that was fast. Very impressive. People expect that from the wrinkle wall Honda's and the built AWD DSM, Subies. They sure don't expect it from a Miata.
I'm sure he'll put the slips up in the dyno/ timeslip thread sometime.
Good guy. Was great to put a face with the screen name.

You'll give any instructor you can get in the car a heart attack on the straights. Be sure to have an airsick bag for them too.
Buy some hard core brake pads first. You'll be braking a whole lot harder at the end of a straight than I ever will. Your 121 in the 1/4 is about what I could trap in 3/4 mile.

Jason, you don't have v-bands, do you? I bet you'd be a prime candidate for loosening hardware once you start beating on your car for more than 11.5 seconds. That being said I'd love to race against you, or at least have you fly by me on the straight. I'll give you a run for your money on my track (PIR). Casey's right though, after exiting turn 12 onto the drag straight you experienced this weekend, I'm only at about 105-110 by the end of the straight, braking for the 60mph 90* right. I'm on street tires so I can't carry impressive corner speed, and I'm still under 200hp, but hot damn.

I definitely need to address the brakes and safety before I go much further with this car. Saturday night was the first time at the strip where I was concerned about being able to stop at the end of a run. Which got me thinking about not only brakes, but seats, harnesses and perhaps even a full cage.

Neato. Well if you need help, Cueball and myself both have plenty of experience with the tracks you'd be visiting. Granted we don't have experience on the tracks with your kind of power, but still. PIR's pretty hard on brakes from what I've heard and experienced, ORP is all over the place, depending on how much dust is on the track, etc. Anyways, help offered if you need it.

What it is, however, is a cheap, newb friendly opportunity to get instruction and preparation for better tracks. Also, it will be my last opportunity of the year to get to play with my car.

It's not that Bremerton is horrible or useless. It's just, well, dull. As a beginner that's likely a good thing. Lets you concentrate on driving skills with little distraction or fear. Best of all, as you said, it's CHEAP! I wish we had a similar track down here. I'd love to be able to do a $100 track day even if the track was an old airport with cones. It's a cheap way to run the car hard and learn some new skills.
