saw this on a local forum, i kinda know the owner, and hes nothing short of retarded.

Attachment 200748

to make it even worse i tried to tell him that it was bad and he got all mad and defensive... so fuck it :noob:

chicksdigmiatas 02-03-2010 10:40 PM

I had to look for a sec. Tell him he should recirculate into his exhaust.

WonTon 02-03-2010 10:46 PM

let us know if his shit blows up????

Full_Tilt_Boogie 02-03-2010 10:47 PM

rofl

I wonder is any small rocks have accumulated in his inercooler yet...

WonTon 02-03-2010 10:48 PM

or small birds!

Full_Tilt_Boogie 02-03-2010 11:03 PM

apparently he had some issues recently because his motor ingested a "drill bit" that was left inside one of the charge pipes...
I bet it was a nail that got sucked into the BOV on the highway, hahaha

chicksdigmiatas 02-03-2010 11:24 PM

I could be wrong... but is that piping made of that fancy autozone special exhaust bends, a piece of coolant hose, and a pvc pipe coupler from lowes?

Faeflora 02-03-2010 11:24 PM

I'm sorry, I don't get it. Where is it?

chicksdigmiatas 02-03-2010 11:31 PM

Under the DP

Full_Tilt_Boogie 02-03-2010 11:33 PM

I also like the lack of a dump tube on the wastegate

as soon as it opens its blowing superheated exhuast on the back of his headlight...

Vashthestampede 02-03-2010 11:36 PM

Yep......looks like a honda.

Tw34k 02-04-2010 01:05 AM

Dear god, don't drive with any kind of precipitation. At first I didn't see it and kept looking at the w/g and was wondering wtf you guys were talking about. He better route that w/g to the valve cover, pronto.

no back into the intake mani! :giggle:

nice missing manifold nuts, better yet -awesome upper radiator hose!

I like the valve cover better. It's better to have a positive pressure oil system. Makes those turbo seals last longer.

I would assume this is mid build, but it doesn't change the fact that he fails.

turotufas 02-04-2010 02:26 AM

I'm really curious to see how this turns out. Please upload pics of the end result.

Pen2_the_penguin 02-04-2010 02:30 AM

I thought I failed my first DIY... but damn.

Pen2_the_penguin 02-04-2010 03:02 AM

thanks chief, I fail at forums mostly.

chicksdigmiatas 02-04-2010 06:59 AM

The guy works at advance..... theres usually one or two good nuts in a basket full of dumb asses at those places.

miataspeed2005 02-04-2010 07:38 AM

I kept looking at the picture and I was like that's a wastegate dumbass, but then I was like miata owners are not that dumb (I take that back). After I saw it then I LOL'd, but it's not as bas as I thought. I was expecting a BOV in a intake pipe or an NA car.

Doppelgänger 02-04-2010 08:31 AM

dammit...save picture and attach to the post, I can't see it!

webby459 02-04-2010 08:44 AM

lol at: upper rad hose, wg vta (literally), and no fucking air filter on the turbo inlet. What is the inlet jammed against, clutch or speedo cable or something?

Anyone have a pic of a well executed one of these things?

Braineack 02-04-2010 08:52 AM

why is that location so awful? it's not like he put it on the DP itself..

gospeed81 02-04-2010 08:52 AM

I wish we had cast turbo manifolds that looked like that.

here's what's really annoying. That manifold is 80 bucks brand new!
And they're proven to be very reliable.
Supply and demand I suppose :/

can you explain why that position is "the worst placement ever."

can you explain how it's worse than being bolted to say: the DP?

okay its the worst placement for actually still functioning as a BOV.

The issue being that its 2 inches from the ground and has likely sucked up all sorts of random things, as BOVs will occasionally draw air in.

That combined with the collapsed upper radiator hose, the opened wastegate vent, and the POS downpipe just make it more hilarious.

also, he used to have a del sol with an integra front end on it

turotufas 02-04-2010 05:59 PM

I think its lame but suppose the guy just wants people to hear it better.

NA6C-Guy 02-04-2010 06:10 PM

I didn't even notice it was one of Honda's SOHC monsters. I guess the D15. What's sad is that 1.5L makes as much power as BP's in the NA's. That's Honda for you.

At least cylinder number 4 won't be overboosting.

Tw34k 02-04-2010 06:56 PM

The owner of that car is (no lie) probably one of the best examples of a retarded honda owner ever.

The funniest thing of all is he truly believes that this setup will make upwards of 400 whp and beat alot of decently fast cars around town when its done..we all call him del-tegra because of the first monstrosity he brought before the honda world.

He makes me extremely embarrassed to own a honda and i especially hate the fact that i bet he thinks that that joke of a setup is better than say..... mine.
I just hope it stays together long enough so i can rape it with a heavier car, full interior, and ill make sure to turn my boost down lower than his.

turotufas 02-04-2010 07:06 PM

I'm going to make the trip up there with some friends! In my experience kids like this can't launch worth shit. All they know is 40 roll. My boy Drob will take him out with 150 horses in his EF hatch.

Tw34k 02-04-2010 07:15 PM

As long as he has his non anti lag, crome free tuned, 2-step i am sure he thinks he has a chance.

I worked on one of his cars in the past and learned my lesson, all he wanted was to be able to go wom bom bom at every redlight, and of course thought his stock ls was going to be "fast" from a simple street tune.

he blew my phone up for 2 weeks trying to get me to work on this most recent hunk of junk and after i finally got it through his head i wont work on his cars anymore he had the balls to ask me to let him borrow my tuning equipment and give him a few pointers...

Im ready to snap on that kid for making me ashamed to own my car.

Full_Tilt_Boogie 02-04-2010 07:26 PM

I wish we could find a pic of the ol' del-tegra, lol

Tw34k 02-04-2010 07:29 PM

pics cant possibly do justice to the failure of that car

I'd like you to show me a turbo honda with a filter...then I'd be amazed.

SKMetalworks 02-05-2010 08:45 AM

Honda's don't need air filters. Creates to much of a restriction.

Whats the big deal... and how can a BOV suck up anything when its meant to release positive pressure? You must be talking about the not having a filter... It's not the most ideal placement, but i don't see how its going to do any detrimental damage being there.

This was your very first quote, you didn't even introduce yourself...... is it possible that you yourself is the owner of the said fail mobile?

 You do understand how that type of BOV operates right?

mosts BOVs are opened whenever the car is in vacuum, some with stiffer springs dont open until hiogher vacuum levels so it will be closed while cruising, but theyre still typically opened during idle and deceleration. And yes, under these circumstances they can sometimes pull air in.

Not having a filter on the turbo is one thing, Ive known ppl to get away with it for a good while. The inlet of the turbo is in the air stream blowing off the radiator fan and its a ways off the ground so It probably wont suck up a whole lots.

But the BOV is like 2 inches from the ground, its gonna suck up loads of sand and whatnot.

Pen2_the_penguin 02-05-2010 02:03 PM

really?

Vaccum is a very fast and powerful thing, my vacuum will bump to -20 on deceleration on the guage. When that throttle plate closes, and the boost is released, sometimes the valve stays open until the vacuum rises above -10, or depending on the spring rate. That is why they have recurculating valves which is protected by the air filter, some poeple put crank case filters on their BOVs, and others just put it a place either high above closer to hood level, or on a side of a charger pipe with the discharge facing toward the ground. I at leas put a SS screen on my BOV and have it on the side of a charge pipe.

chicksdigmiatas 02-05-2010 02:41 PM

So i couldn't visualize what a pile of crap a del sol/ integra would look like, so i figured i would google, here are pics of your too lazy. Let the riciness ensue.
