Haven't done one yet this year. I've been busssssyyyyyy these last few days.

Ideas?

That's pretty good for a first ever, a lot of people just hack at it with a meat cleaver until there're two triangle eyes and a jagged mouth.

that goatse pumpkin has been floating around the interwebz for years. Should be a temp ban for falsely taking credit for such a work of art.

I figured everyone has already seen it at some point.

Yup, seen it.

I can't decide what to carve this year, gah. I've already done Dr. Evil, Darth Vader, the Crimson Ghost, Mike Myers, and the Skrat (from Ice Age). Last year's pumpkin went over here like a fart in church, I need ideas. Feasible ideas...

Classic or more modern?

Scariest modern character I can think of is Obama

Your first ever? What's the story behind that?

I think I'm going to cheat this year and use my dremel.

I tried that with Dr. Evil, ended up sprinkled with orange pulp and it didn't work as well as I thought.

More modern(ish), I already did Obama last year, but not his face. The Garrison Commander made me take it down. Doing Obama this year wouldn't be very wise on my part since he's the Commander in Chief now...

Unless I change my mind, I'll be carving this:

(annoying password protected BS removed by moderator)

I downloaded a whole bunch of my favorite patterns just now, as I broke down and paid carvingpumpkins.com $8 this year to have access to some of the better patterns.

Hopefully later I'll be posting a pic of my success.

Weird, it is one of the "members only" patterns but the little thumbnail should have shown up fine. Hmm..

Here's a shot of my progress so far.

Get a set of chisels and a sharp blade like an exacto knife, and sterilize everything if you want the thing to last. I put mine in a bleachwater solution when it's not on display, it extends the life of it by at least twice.
