Yeah, we got him one of those "hold the button so it raises you to the point you are almost standing" chairs. I didn't think he would ever use it because these are really simple people. They live way out in the boondocks of WV and time has really left them behind. Some examples of how they are?

- never used a cell phone
- never ate pizza
- never ate a hamburger
- last movie seen was Funny Farm with Chevy Chase
- last car was a Gremlin
- didn't cash (submit) for the $600 Bush tax stimulus because "that is welfare"
- never sent/seen an email or computer
- grandpa had two strokes and never saw a doctor, just laid in bed for 6 months
- can't see but won't wear glasses
- eats sausage/bacon every meal (won't eat chicken or beef)
- live off $18,000 combined social security and have saved up enough money
to have a couple hundred thousand in the bank since retirement
- has not seen a doctor since retirement (not sure how much longer before that) and has not used a penny of medicare ever (30 years)

They live like everyone should live. Keep to themselves and don't waste money. Live to be happy and not collect **** they don't need. I respect them probably more than anyone else I know. I only see them twice a year so shame on me...

He never ate a hamburger? WTF? I can see not using a cell phone or computer, but never eatin a hamburger? That's just plain un-american! j/k. Your grand father sounds like the kind of dudes I sit and bullshit with at the Auburn VFW. As for the gun thing...I owned an SKS and I liked it as far as blasting rounds off and not caring. I was 16 then. Now I am all about accuracy. I use an AR-15, and I swear by it. People might say an AK is better cause you can throw it in the mud, load a clip in it, and it'll still fire. I never owned an AK, so i can't pass judgement. I guess it's all about what you want. Do you want to hit someone in the head at 300 yards with the 1st shot? Or do you want to empty a clip and scare the **** outta someone?

Until I shot the SKS I used to think that a carbine would be a good home defense weapon. I kept hearing people talk about them with that in mind. Now that I see first hand what it will do I can say that would be a horrible home defense weapon. Unless you were defending the neighbors house across the street and needed to shoot through your walls to get to the bad guy. I think I will stick with my shotgun from now on.

Not that I am paranoid, but I currently have a 12 GA semi-auto shotgun, a 20 GA bolt action shotgun, two .32ACPs, a .22LR pistol, and a .45 within 5 feet of my bed. Only a moron would break into my house!

Oh yeah, and an aluminum baseball bat <G>...

Thats the way I am, but knowing my luck, the only smart and stealthy burglar will break into my house while I'm asleep and use my own guns to kill me in bed. Hurray for living in an old house in a semi bad neighborhood. But let them kick the door down, I will be waiting at the top of the stairs with a gun in hand.

Only SKS I've seen in person didn't do it for me. I guess I would have to shoot one to have any basis though.
