because eventually I'll need it to tune MS. I suck at spending money, I'm such a tight-ass.

Cheapest you could find? Maybe you're using it for other things, but how much "computer power" (that's as technical as I get) is needed for MS?

I've been keeping my eyes open for about two years and I recently found one. Little beat up, but 100 bucks.

Best Buy will have a $380 HP 15.4" widescreen laptop Friday morning.

I have a shitty I MEAN GREAT dell that wont charge its own batteries... make you such a deal on that SOB.

office depot had a compaq with an amd sempron 3000, 512mb ram, 60gb hd, 1yr warranty, CDRW/DVD at $275 after rebate in a flyer a couple of weeks ago. Granted it's a cheap computer, but at the price it's a good deal on a cheap computer.

Some of us are good at spending money in one week i spent 1000 on a bike and another 600 for insurnace and 200 to register it. I fell asleep in the ride home after picking the bike up.

I just bought a laptop last week for $600. Almost new, used 2 weeks. Dual core intel, 1.5gb ram, 120gb HD, dvdrw, 15.4" glossy screen, free vista upgrade. You just gotta look around for a deal, they comeup quite often especially for stuff like this.

wow $1600 on a car is cheeaaaappp... most highend laptops are around that amount

My turbo setup is going to end up costing me more than my car did. Looks like the turbo setup will be somewhere around $1400. ;)

Don't buy anything thats not a dual core.. to be honest that would be stupid at this point as most of the rest of the crap is becoming fast outdated "aka core solo". Just watch slickdeals.net or gottadeal.com and run it by us. RAM is always easily upgraded, but processor not so much.

Unfortunately for you I just sold my beast notebook for 600.

Hell a P3-600 with 256mb will be good for that. I'm looking at Compaq Armada M300s on ebay. Old school P3 and have a serial port. Plus they're tiny. Downside is you need the docking station for CD/DVD usage. They go about $200. This will be %90 tuning laptop. I've got a $75 portable DVD player for DVDs.
