2009 Triumph Speed Triple 1050
I'm probably going to regret this, I seem to regret everything I sell, but here goes.
I bought this bike from the original owner in late 2010. He had only put ~1500 miles on it. It's now at about 15,000. I used this for my daily commute for a few years, plus a few weekend getaways with my wife, but I just don't ride much anymore and other pursuits beckon.
2009 Speed Triple 1050
Triumph Gel Seat
Aftermarket Tail Tidy / rear fender eliminator
Factory front bikini fairing and chin fairing
New Michelin Pilot Power rear tire just mounted and broken in
New matching Michelin front tire included but not mounted
Carbon fiber low-mount slip-on muffler (original under-seat dual exhaust with catalytic converter included, perfect condition)
Bike has a tune on it for the slip-on. TuneECU tuning software and cable included - very easy to return to stock.
New EBC "wave" rear brake rotor and pads
Locking gas cap removed and replaced with screw-on cap (the locks are notorious for seizing up on these bikes, which happened to me several years back)
Amsoil motorcycle oil since new, changed every 2,500 miles with a Triumph filter.
Brake fluid flushed yearly.
Chain cleaned every 1,000 miles, has only been adjusted once.
I have a magnetic tank bag that can go with the bike if the new owner is interested.
This bike has never been crashed, dinged, dropped, or abused. It has a couple small stone chips in the chin fairing and one of the front turn signal flanges has a crack in it. Other than that, it's in perfect condition and has never given me any trouble. It's a great all-around bike with a comfortable riding position. The engine has a fantastic sound and feel to it. The 2009-2010 Speed triples are particularly desirable because they are the last years of the original styling and they have the best brakes (Brembo) and engine/trans.

I am really trying to reduce my debt load with the aim of going back to finish school here in the near future, so is having a motorcycle as my only transportation as a college student a feasible goal?

Depends on the school. Where I went lots of people managed with just their feet for transportation. Small town though, everything close.

You're better off with just an appliance car that gets good mileage. Insurance will probably be cheaper, not enough difference in mileage to matter much, and you can probably get a set of appliance car tires cheaper than a set of moto tires, and they last 4 times as long. Plus all the advantages of a car for bad weather, passengers, stuff, etc.
That said, the FZ-09 is a great package, and the '17 does look like a good improvement. I have a '15 FJ-09, and I can tell you that 900 triple will make you do bad things...

Yeah, the campuses I am looking at walking everywhere is definitely feasible. I am referring to all other transportation needs. Go have fun on the weekends, get across town to a friend's house, etc. I've never had a bike, so I don't know how convenient/inconvenient it is to only have the motorcycle.

The one paid off car I have is my 01 Miata and my insurance is only $50 a month. I am about to sell back my 2010 Jetta TDI to VW, so my appliance car will be gone and I would like to get out of my job by the end of the year, so I don't really want to go buy another appliance car.
I have an 01 Miata, '16 Miata (that I really need to sell), and that VW. I also have my sisters '13 Hyundai Elantra to get to and from work for at least a year, since she is living abroad right now, but holy hell is it a soul-less, fun-suck of a car to drive.
So, the total point is, can I get rid of everything and go with a motorcycle and not really miss having a car? Or are they for fun only and not smart for a college budget?
I did my MSF in the summer of '15, but I haven't been on a bike since.
I'd say it all depends on the weather where you live, how much stuff/people you haul around and how committed you are. The summer I got my bike I pretty much only rode it around since I sold most of my cars and didn't have any running. Put 8k miles on it in about 3 months. Luckily it didn't rain much that year. The main annoyance I had was putting on all my gear just for a quick ride down the road. Takes longer to gear up than it does to get somewhere lol. The good part was that I was getting 70 mpg and commuting 90 miles each day so it really saved me some money (I was only making around 11/hr then) compared to the 20mpg the legacy I had. If your budget is really tight remember to add in costs for tires/chains/maintenance. My little 250 doesn't go through stuff that fast but those bigger bikes might.

Budget wise, a car is more sensible.
As B6Tfastiva noted, the bike will be more of a PITA for just about everything, if you're planning on wearing decent protective gear. Even a run to the grocery store can be a challenge on a small bike without luggage. Add in weather, and passengers and it can be a real plan changer.
There are plenty of folks out there that only have bikes, and they seem to be happy. I love bikes and I've had them most of my life, but I wouldn't do it. Even if I got to roll 30 years off the clock to be a college student again.
My advice: keep the paid for NB, sell everything else and get a bike. Best of both worlds.
Does this count? our 2017 groms. White has stretch,drop,fender eliminator and hindle exhaust. Red has fender eliminator,hindle exhaust, intake and tune. So far they have 16 and 14 miles on the odometer and we have more snow coming so back in the garage.

In somewhat related news, i just scored a Arai Signet-q helmet off Revzilla for half off.
Yeah I've gotten stupid lucky. It's why I go hunting every year lol. I might only get one but between all the family that hunts on my uncles farm we'll usually get about 15 a year. Think we end up with well over 100 lbs of burger/sausage/smoked meat after its all done.
Have decided to let the Speed Triple go. Really want a YXZ100R sport side-by-side... and aside from that, I need money to pay taxes. Sucks, but I'll get another bike in the near future. Probably a Buell, hopefully a Ulysses. Feeling more like comfort.
Counts in my book. Are either of you over 6' ? I've been tempted to sell my KLR and get a Grom (or maybe the Z125 pro) but I'm worried my lanky *** 6'3" isn't gonna fit... I'd go try for myself, but I suspect that would end with me coming home with one...
