MT, recommend me an audiobook.

I enjoy reading, but I rarely have time (or desire) to sit down and actually do it. What I do a lot of, however, is driving, to the tune of 2000+ highway miles a month, and my floormats can only handle so much masturbatory emission before I have to find something else to occupy my time. I have found the joy of Audible, which lets me download books, put them on my iPod, and listen to them while I pass cars at double the speed limit while porn stars film in the bed of my truck.

So recommend me a book, because I'm out of good ones.

-I like carz
-I like politiks

The last two books I read were The Post-American World by Fareed Zakaria, and The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein. So basically anything that's an interesting commentary on the current financial or political world (y8s and cuadra, I'm looking at you) or a good story (everyone else).

See if there's an audiobook for "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies".

Also, "Lies My Teacher Told Me" was a good read. Don't know if it's on audiobook either. I suck.

D0000d, do you drive the Bang-Bus?

EDIT: The only way I retain info is by focusing on each word in the book.... lol So I think an audio book would be great, so long as I close my eyes or am in the dark. :)

I see Cryptonomicon is available on audiobook. Might be kinda long for listening to, though. Also doesn't meet your preferences (maybe wartime politics, although it's still a stretch, being fiction).

Braineack 07-02-2009 05:48 PM

i like anything Clive Cussler or Dan Brown or John Grisham or Bill O Reilly.

I love audiobooks, and there's NOTHING better at making the miles fly by.

These should fit your requirements.

Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking by Malcolm Gladwel

Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell

The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference by Malcolm Gladwell

The World Is Flat 3.0: A Brief History of the Twenty-first Century by Thomas L. Friedman

Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything (P.S.) by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner

So lemme ask you, did you get a little choked up at the end of Racing in the Rain when his daughter introduced him to the kid? :giggle:

Yeah. That book sort of blew me away. The POV is unique, but you get into the characters in a big way.
