Mustangs and Camaros were the chick cars of their day (think Cavalier and Focus). Men drove the larger cars, hence the difference. Mustangs were for Sallys and were marketed to schoolteachers and secretaries in all of the advertising. Young men had musclecars marketed to them and the mid-size cars with the smaller engines were for the practical and budget minded. The really big cars were marketed to the successful adults.
The Vette was always considered an American attempt at a sportscar, but it fails because it is a piggy. It is quick in a straight line but has very heavy, uncommunicative steering. It is better in corners than the other American cars, but that's like being the slimmest girl at fat camp. That is why the GM folks were concerned with weight reduction in the C6. It seems all cars are bloated right now. Accords, Camrys, Civics and Corollas all weigh nearly twice what they once did. Stability control, nav bullshit, 23 airbags, electric this, automatic that, self-dimming mirrors? How did people survive back when they had to dim their own fucking mirrors? What was I talking about? Nevermind... Hey! You kids get off my lawn! |

The Accords, Camrys, Civics and Corollas and just catching up. Looked exactly like the one on the bottom (same color and everything): http://www.mercuryarchive.com/1969to...sBroughams.jpg sidebar: It sure looks like these cars are being marketed to women. Who is holding the baby and standing in the background on the second photo? |

I love those old GTO ads with the tiger...the funniest ads were the 80's car ads. I remember seeing a commercial I think it was 1984 for a Dodge Charger. The punchline was "nothing beats the charger" which was ironic cause it went from a big long heavy car with a v8, to a little front wheel drive 4 cylinder car.

Man, I'm so glad I actually own a Corvette so I don't have to sit here on a forum and cry.

I've always suspected that more women than men owned mustangs. I wish I knew how to get a hold of records to prove it. Top Gear or the new Car Show should get their researchers to dig and find out.

Mustangs are for chicks and dudes who can't afford Corvettes so they become bitter and hate on them every possible chance.
