Default My age is showing

On the way into work this morning I was behind a guy in a 350Z. I'm sure it was stock, but he decided to show me how slow my car was by ripping away from me. I couldn't help myself so I quickly got behind him and paced him as he was trying to pull away. The funny part was that for me it was like a gingerly Sunday drive. No effort whatsoever to stay with him.

It then dawned on me how fast I was going on a city street past a shopping center, so I backed off. No one on the roads, but still reckless and dumb. For what? I don't know guys. A crazy fast car just isn't what it used to be. Doing it over again I would have done a build on stock internals with much less power. (I've turned the boost up to 22psi).

I drove a lot crazier on the streets before I started doing track events. Now when I'm on the street I feel like I'm at the worst track day ever - everyone around me is a novice, nobody is wearing a helmet, people are on the phone and texting (!), there is no run-off room, and things are totally disorganized!

Hah! I feel the same way after even just one event on the track! Then again, there are a lot of speshul people here in Charlotte so I have always kinda felt that way whenever I drive anywhere.

My brother used to tell me that I would cool it on the street after track days. He was right. Only time I'm ricer on the street is when someone tries to pass me on a merging lane. Abandoned roads/neighborhoods are exempt.

Same with motorcycles and motorcycle trackdays. My favorite twisties are ruined, but I no longer feel the need to do retarded **** in traffic.

Yup. I fit into the "drive like ****" demographic, (I'm 20) and after doing track days, I don't even enjoy driving on mountain roads anymore. I'm also rarely above the speed limit. I get to go all out once a month and it keeps me out of trouble on the road. imokwiththis.jpg
