Sorry to hear that Sav,I know exackly how you feel,I had to put down my dog last year due to cancer.......it really sucks.

I suggest you keep yourself busy,try not to think about your dog too musch,I did the complete opposite and I almost lost my mind the first month.

At least MT does have a heart.

So sorry for your loss Savington. I remember when I was 8 and the family Dachshund passed away. I was devastated, even though we had a Husky at the same time. Dogs are truly family, each with there own personality and devotion to you.

And as Hustler had pointed out, when you are ready, give the gift of a better life to a pound dog. :D

My golden retriever died 3 months ago. I had him since I was 5 until I was 18 years old. It was the first time I had cried in a long time... Sorry about your loss, I feel your pain.

Damn. People who aren't close with pets have a hard time understanding how much that loss can hurt. I had to put one dog down due to cancer and the other went on her own, much as you described. Both were bird hunting companions, family pets and good friends. It's years now and it still hurts when, like now, I touch that part of my heart.

The cost of loving a pet and the companionship they give back is the grieving when they are gone. If only the good ones could live forever. You have my sympathies.

I lost my first dog when I was your age too. I had her since 1st grade. Still miss her nearly 10 years later. I'm sure you'll be the same way with Amber.

Sorry man, I feel for you. My two labs are 6 and 7 and I don't know what I will do when they go. We don't have any kids so they are our kids.

Sorry to hear man. I feel your pain. We had a dog that died when I was 7. My parents had her since before I was born. It's tough losing a loved one. I still miss her.

sucks man. i lost my first dog a few months ago out of no-where from a heart attack. she was a white toy poodle, i loved her so much. my whole family was in really rough shape for a few weeks. that was actually the first time i have seen my dad cry. i still think about that little dog every day.

My Lab I had for 4 yrs dissapeared while my grand father was dying from a stroke. My girlfriends family didn't put her in her kennel that night. And they didn't even go look for her the next day.

It sucks to lose a dog.

Sorry to hear that. I lost my 17yo poodle/silky terrier dog about 2 years ago. We ended up burying her in the backyard, after I modified her dog house into a coffin. I figured she lived in it all her life, she might feel more comfortable in it. We decided to put her in the backyard and I still feel close to her since I can visit her whenever I like. Plus, it feels like she's still in the backyard guarding the house.

This was one of the very few things that made me feel better, knowing she was still in the backyard.

Sorry to hear it man. I read this yesterday and just had to give my dog a few extra scratches behind the ear.

You've got your job, your friends, your cars, your hobbies. All your dog has is you. There's nothing more loyal than a good dog, and there's not much you can do once they're gone except cherish the memories and be thankful for the companionship they gave you.

Aww man thats terrible news. Its amazing how attached we get to our furry family members and how much it hurts when they are gone. :(
