So, a local guy had 3 FB rx-7's. One was running when he parked it 4 years ago but not now, another had everything that it needed to run but didnt run, and the third was a parts car. I bought two of them for $100, the one that had everything it needed and the parts car. My buddy bought the first one that should be in running condition he paid $100 for that one. We brought back the two complete cars today and we are going next weekend to get the other car. The only problem is, the only car with a title is the one I don't have. These cars are from my home state. Anybody have suggestions on getting a title?
Sounds like my setup. Want to buy 2 more? One of them became a parts car because of out of state title that I couldn't figure out. Check with the DMV and see what they say about it.

Pretty much every state has a procedure for recovering a lost title. So long as the car has a clean history (no liens, no salvage, etc) it shouldn't be too hard. Check with your local BMV office, obviously.
If the guy who sold the cars to you was also the holder of the previous title, than it's really quite easy. Just apply for a Duplicate Title and use the new one to conduct the transfer to you and subsequent registration.

More like turbo 350 but you've got the idea.
The guy that I bought it from originally bought it for parts so he never had a title. I did find the registration for it from the last time it was registered.

Almost bought a 280zx turbo before the miata like that.
Yeah they do. I think my FB was more go kart like than the Miata. Very nimble for a car using early 80's technology. Light weight, high revving rotary engine, Mikuni 44mm screaming and RB streetport exhaust "roaring". Fun times until the little title thing ruined me.
Booooooo
+1. I've had two of them. My very first car was an '85 auto trans. Slow as ****, but it made up for it in the twisties.

This guy I worked with has an '83 RX-7 with a turbo II engine. He has a T-76 turbo running at like 37psi, he is running a Microtech Standalone. He was running in the 9's at Maple Grove Dragway, until the last time he took it down. I'm not sure what he tweaked, but it went something like 8.40 at 160mph. This was the only pass of the day cause when the officials saw it run, they said, "pack it up and get outta here." All this with a rotary and a BIG turbo. This isn't some big name drag car either, it's a slapped together not legal for any kind of track use trailer queen.

One of my favorite FB's around is DirectFreak's. Goddamn beautiful car!
The good dyno video on Youtube has an unauthorized soundtrack, so its useless now without the sounds. Thanks shittube.
Here it is on Myspace. Most may have already seen it. Dyno in the second half, first half is just car related.
