My name is Todd...and I'm a raging alcoholic
As the title says...I enjoy to drink my face off pretty much everyday, but I don't let those little things in life bother me like insults, stereotypes, and politics. My drinking fiend comes and goes...sometimes I come home and don't even touch a beer, sometimes I come come and get **** bagged wasted. I am 28 years old, and I worked 3rd shift since I was 19, and in September of 09 I transfered to second shift. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention...when I was in junior high I was spelling bee champion of the whole jr. and sr. high, so even though I am richly alcohol tuned, you most likely won't find we slipping on my spelling. So as the Filter song goes, "Where do we go from here"?
I have this friend named "Mike"...his father supposedly approached Bowling and Grippo and said "I may be interested in manufacturing your product." Word is they said, "We don't want to suit this product with some who knows about computers, we want a CAR GUY." Then "Mike's" dad said, "allow me to introduce myself, My name is .... and I build drag cars than run in the ... and you have what I have been looking for." Then Bowling and Grippo said, "ok, you may be worthy of what's been brewing in our heads..."
So next Saturday 4/3/10 "Mike" told me he plans on takin his EMS PRO'd 1967 Plymouth Baracuda that sports a STROKED 426 HEMI with MultiPort EFI to Nudia DragWay to do some pre summer runs. This car ran a 9 second flat 1/4 mile at Maple Grove Speedway last year, I guess he wants to run 8's? I'll be there to run a 14 something in my MS2 '99 with a SR20 stock turbo on 7psi stock injectors and stock clutch. Since it's still March, these are numbers I wanna lay down...I ran a 14.6 on 7psi with a voodoo box, and a 14.4 on MS-1 parallel with a hella slippin clutch on approx 12 psi. This year I wanna get close to a 13.2 with a FM1 clutch and 14PSI with 460cc injectors on MS-II with EBC. I eventually wanna run a 60mm compressor wheel, but 12.9's are my goal.

Here comes the giggle fest. I forget to mention that I wanted to ask...If Gatorade is an electrolyte replenisher, if mixed Gatorade with vodka , would it defeat the purpose? I wanna be sauced all weekend, but don't wanna wake up and feel like multiple pieces of *****.

I haven't drank vodka in years, but I bought some smirnoff yesterday and I had to have some. I really like grey goose, but mostly I stick to beers or wild turkey. As for my liver, I think he's bein a good sport about everything.

I care about the repercussions of his actions because it's hard on his body and ultimately bad for his health. We all know this.
If his liver goes out and he needs a new one, it's not like swapping a set of brake pads: 2 hours later, good as new. It's surgery. It's serious surgery and there's a risk to his life.
Not to mention none of us has any idea of how the healthcare system will respond to a heavy drinker with a shot liver. Currently, I think they assign heavy drinkers a pretty low priority (if any) for the replacement queue. But since I have little experience with that, it's more of a guess.
Finally, the vast majority of "good healthcare", whether it's 100% private or 100% public is prevention. An individual can choose to maximize health over all other options or choose to treat it as a non-primary motivator and live how they want. Generally I like to know if people make a conscious decision to live a certain way or if they do it out of habit or whatever. I was curious about how Todd views his health. It wasn't a loaded question at all. And it doesn't relate to some ulterior motive.

Awesome, I was waiting for this thread to turn into a healthcare debate. So during the week I only drink a beer or 2 a day if that. On a Saturday, i usually drink at least a 12 pack and wack down a few shots. I do this maybe every 2 weeks. This is my off week, so I only drink a few beers. I am in prime shape, I run 2.2 miles in 12 minutes. Thanks for the concern, but seriously, I think my health issue is fine. The thread title was more of a drunken rant than a "I think I have a problem".

OK THEN.
I recently did a vodka taste test for myself because I was looking for the best value in tasty vodkas. Here's what I came up with:
1. best value and flavor: Tito's Handmade (mentioned above)
2. cheapest w/neutral flavor: Svedka
3. Tastiest with unique flavor (price irrelevant): Ciroc
And here's the super pro tip on hangover prevention:
* remain hydrated throughout the night
* before you go to bed, chug a half quart of gatorade and take two aspirin.
* when you wake up, chug the other half quart and take two aspirin.
The gatorade will replenish the electrolytes you lose from pissing every five minutes as well as sugars to replenish the glucose in your blood and brain (less is made because of chemicals diverted to breaking down alcohol) and the aspirin is a prostglandin inhibitor. Prostglandins are responsible for sensitizing nerves to pain. The aspirin may have other effects that help the liver deal with the toxic byproduts of breaking down.
I've tried this and it helps considerably.

Health care debates will come in just about every alcohol/tobacco/pot conversation I have involving a liberal from now on.

I used to get smashed, come home and drink two glasses of water and a glass of milk and go to bed.
Never had hangovers....unless the milk came back up. So I switch to chugging a glass of water and a gatorade. Y8s is right, works like a charm.
Now that I've got a kid I've discovered Pedialyte. It's a miracle cure.

F those army pussies. They ain't got nothin on me. I enlisted in the marines once, they pissed me off so f them too. I decided that instead of a fighting for country that "I" have no control over, I'm only lookin out for me and my family / what I own and worked to have.
