your talking about whp right?

Miata-99 08-09-2006 09:30 PM

that didnt really answer my question of why my bov was louder just becasue of a open air intake

magnamx-5 08-10-2006 12:25 AM

Your intake and bov where designed in an insulated enviroment sound insulation more than heat but if your bov vent back into a point between the maf and air filter and the air flow through the filter will be heard i love hte way mine does is but of course i have no bov so the noise is the positive pressure bleedign across the compressor blades the wrong way it still heightens the enjoyment of driving the car btw. your car stock makes 200 Crank hp maybe 180 whp stock. 220-250 is the limit of your little oem turbo though. from this prespective the 16g small will do alot in how powerfull the car feels exp at 15 psi where you will be pushing 260+ whp depending on your state of tune. hope this helps

Miata-99 08-10-2006 12:35 AM

yeah it really did actually help alot thank you, I was so stunned when I took it out for a test drive after installing the filter I was so happy to hear that noise. I didnt expect it to be that much louder

magnamx-5 08-10-2006 12:41 AM

fun aint it. just be carefull cops can hear it to but that is the price we pay sometimes.

Miata-99 08-10-2006 12:48 AM

ya ya thats a sad story but isnt it fun driving through town in second gear and scaring people.

magnamx-5 08-10-2006 12:54 AM

:bigtu: ohh yeah mine:ugh2: is no where near as loud as yours though. you win that battle i can still sneack up on people.:gay:

Miata-99 08-10-2006 12:56 AM

yes I win, damn its fun

viciousclipse 08-10-2006 09:00 AM

yea im talking about whp, stock on a 95 is 210 crank. I put my bov on at the same time as the intake so not sure about the noise, but if you really want to scare people get a dumped o2 sensor housing, the air bled off by your wastegate usually goes back into the exhaust, when its dumped it just goes straight out of the car, no exhaust, at about 4k the wastegate opens up and the car screams, i had this.

Newbsauce 08-10-2006 10:24 AM

Haha you wanna scare people.. this is the answer.. i've seen this in person:

1) Get a large turbo.. at minimum a 50 trim...
2) use an external wastegate and route it out the side of your front bumper.
3) Proceed to shoot 1-2 ft flames out of your bumper.

viciousclipse 08-10-2006 10:36 AM

yea thats how mine was, just with an internal gate, but routed out the side

Newbsauce 08-10-2006 12:36 PM

There was a guy in the NOVA area running like a T66 or something absurd also.. I remember that

magnamx-5 08-10-2006 12:39 PM

You guys are nuts. Sleepers are the way to go the fun factor is infinitly greater.

Miata-99 08-10-2006 12:58 PM

well that was my original idea till i heard my bov

Newbsauce 08-10-2006 01:43 PM

Sleeper is fun, but not really practical when your pushing like 17 PSI :P Either way your car is going to sound like a damn vacuum cleaner.

viciousclipse 08-10-2006 01:50 PM

my car was extremely quiet until i wanted it be be loud, the dump didnt open till 4k and you shouldnt hear a bov during normal driving unless you keep reving it.

viciousclipse 08-10-2006 01:52 PM

sleeper, thats why i bought a miata!

Miata-99 08-10-2006 02:56 PM

well its too fun not to keep reving it

magnamx-5 08-11-2006 12:07 AM

mine sounds like a stock exhaust v8 when i am on it other wise it is real quite cept for the intake sucking in while i give gas.
