I was talking to my wife on the phone tonight, She was out driving her miata, when out of the blue she asked ”when are you going to turbo charge my miata?” I was blown away, secretly I had been considering installing a turbo; maybe bring it up to 150HP. The good news is I have a lot of extra parts already. I have extra injectors, extra wideband O2, and I will transfer the band aids off my car when I go mega squirt soon. I guess I will keep my eyes out for a used Greedy kit (really only need the manifold and turbo) or possibly a BEGI shanghai. One thing I know for sure, I married the right woman!

Get a '99 head and an exhintake swap with adjustable cam-gears... should get you close. MS or a used Link will let you get the last few ponies... should be WAY easier and more reliable than boosting just for 150whp.

Your route would be reliable, but I have had astounding reliability out of my band aid setup; the only failure I have had in 20K+ miles has been a charge pipe blowing off. The fact that her car is a 1990 with a 1.6 also makes your option slightly more difficult. This car is not my wife’s daily driver, so dependability is not paramount.

I think a basic turbo kit would be the bomb. you could probably find the right parts in the classifieds over the next few months for cheap.
