I've signed a bunch of NDAs, friends within the industry have signed similar with their companies. Of course news gets exchanged between friends, ex-colleagues, problems discussed, etc. but people try to not go public to avoid putting friends in trouble - you never know when they start tracing back to the leak source who one might lead to trouble.
i.e. I know lots of details about a bunch of aaa titles (not just from the company I work but about other companies/publishers as well) which the world hasn't heard about yet, but in no way I am even mentioning a word about the names or details ...
P.S. Once I had to sign an NDA with Lucas about Star Wars stuff - that NDA was the craziest of them all ... most scared of leaks he is. Btw there was even some crazy stuff about things like the purple light sabre reservation so we don't even try touch/use that ...
