I contacted someone that can take the process of exporting a car to my home and I have found a car that seems a good deal. I'ts near boston:

would it be really that much cheaper to get one imported than to pay more for a local one?

Yes there is nothing under 9000$ for a stok one with more thant 150 000KM (93750 miles). So even if I pay a full 5000$ for import this car, it's still cheaper!
