Default need a system 7 mac with 400k floppy and hdi-45 adapter

wife wants to dig some data off some old floppies and i'm not sure if they are 400k or 800k but they are circa 1997 and the easiest way appears to be a powermac 6100 with the superdrive that is 400k capable. and system 7 since os 8 drops support for 400k.

also presumably we'll need some way to get the video out from the HDI-45 connector. Or the AV Card's S-Video (if it has one).

and a keyboard and mouse.

and it'd need ethernet.

bonus points for a copy of eudora.

anyone?

bueller?

I see some stuff on ebay but i hate ebay.

Perhaps KryoFlux is what you're looking for?

I've never used this particular device, but it reminds me of the nibble-copiers we used to have in the '80s and '90s for duplicating copy-protected disks.

I should have known you'd show up first in this thread, Joe

i saw references to that thing. it's probably slightly more expensive than the whole vintage computer + adapter but I bet it'll work the first time. whether i can read and do stuff with the data is another story. that's maybe the most compelling reason to go with the old computer. I can 1. open the eudora data directly in eudora, 2. plug in the ethernet cable, 3. ?????, 4. send it to her gmail.

I'll have to dig through my box-o-crap, but I *might* have a 400k floppy drive if that'd help. No promise.
