New car quarter mile times, WTF?

Is this the sign of the new car quarter mile apocolypse or something?

April 08 Motortrend:

Charger R/T 14.1
G8 GT 13.8
Roush stage 2 mustang 13.8
Saleen S281-3V 13.7
Shelby GT-C 13.8
Accord coupe EX-L 14.0
Eclipse GT 14.3
Altima coupe 3.5 se 14.3
06 EVO MR 13.5
Toyota Sequoia 14.7

Is it me, or do these numbers seem too close for the variety of vehicles? I know, one second in the quarter mile is a decent gap, but any of these vehicles could beat any other in a drag. Hell, I lost to a 500+hp EVO by .01 seconds in the eighth because he bogged it and missed second.

An accord is almost a 13 sec car?!

It's sad knowing that when I turbo the NA, it'll still probably be slower than alot of these family cars.

The accord is not close to a 13 second car. I used to sell them and these numbers are very optimistic, it's closer to a high 14's car in real life. 14.5 here and as I said, very optimistic. http://www.modernracer.com/hondaaccordexcoupe.html

These times are almost always a second or more slower in real life without all the corrections, etc.. And which would you actually want to drive, anyways!?

But, the accord has 268 hp now.

Although those times seem very slow for those mustangs, considering they dynoed them to verify the power.

"Roush stage 2 mustang 13.8"

I don't know how much agree with these numbers. The roush stage 2 for example. 13.8 sec. The 06-07 GT runs 13.6 if you got the 5 speed. So the new roush stage 2 is SLOWER THAN THE PREVIOUS YEAR BASE GT? WTF?

The Stage 2 adds handling & cosmetics only, no power mods.

Those times have to be far wrong. I had a run-in with a new Altima coupe last night (V6)... and i totally DUSTED his ass...from a roll.

Unless properly configured for a drag strip, the 'Stangs have had a serious problem hooking up and getting decent 60-ft times; more so with the current design.

I was at the Fun Ford Weekend in Houston a little over a year ago and the S/C'd Saleens were averaging high 14s and the (mostly) stock GTs were dialing low- to mid 15s.

The new GT stangs (mods!?) run high 8s in the eighth, V6 with exhaust runs a 10 flat everytime. I can't wait to beat one of the GTs this summer. They act way too cool.

How are we supposed to compare cars when these magazines are wack!?

Probably the stiffer suspensions. At least they sure handle better.
