I started my new job. My first at-sea period on the Nimitz... starting to get my qual's. So far, so good on the shooter thing. Food is marginal, hot water is suspect, but the crew is the best I've ever seen. We were out 10 days and it went by quick... fun!

There are few things in life as exhilarating as watching the wing of a jet fighter zoom by wile being launched off the catapult. I was fortunate to experience that twice in the early 90s wile visiting CVN 69. A mach 1.2 flyby at deck level will also get the blood moving.

LT, will roll over 9yrs in June... screen for LCDR in April and will probably put that one this time next year.

I was on a "family day cruise" and I was amazing seeing those jets take off and land! The supersonic Fly-bys were CRAZY!

 

My buddy is a LT on the Nimitz as well. Small world. We moved from San Diego to Jacksonville a few years back. SD is a great town, just wish it was cheaper.

Wasn't there a movie about the Nimitz in the early 80's or so? Something about going back in time to WWII and they had a chance to stop the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor?
