I have a N64 that I found in my closet and would like to hookup to my monitor so I can play it. Unfortunately my monitor only has a HDMI and DVI input. So for all the electronics guru's, what would be the cheapest way to get the coax cable converted to HDMI?
I don't think there is a specific device that will convert it, but maybe you would be able to find a VCR/DVD combo with RCA inputs and HDMI outputs
All you'd need then is something to convert the coax to RCA assuming it will let you pass the signal through

Yes, they do make active converters to do this specific thing. Not cheap are they.
Some examples selected at random from a Google search:
Kanex | Composite/S-Video/L-R Audio to HDMI Converter
Composite and S-Video to HDMI Converter
Composite Video to HDMI Scaler

Thanks for the links Joe. I guess I will have to splurge some and pick one of those up. I was really hoping that BestBuy or someplace would have some cheap device to do it with.
dude. if you are going to spend at least like get a xbox for dirt cheap and mod it so you have all the old systems emulated with a good controller. I had it back in college and loved the **** out of it.

The funny thing is I have a tv tuner on my desktop. I will be trying it out to see how it works. I had totally forgotten about it since the switch over to digital.
I've tried it with a Hauppauge TV Tuner, and there was a huge amount of lag between the video game system and the computer. I would press buttons and it was off by about a second and a half... made games unplayable.

Now for the even worse news. Someone deleted all my save files form Ocarina of Time. If I ever find out who did that they are dead.
I got it working this morning and that is the exact problem I have. The button inputs are lagging behind whats going on on the screen. Makes it impossible to actually play Super Smash Brothers.

Sme of the best nights of my life were getting wasted, playing that, listening to Pink Floyd and smoking hukah.

Whoever did this horrible thing must die. Twice.

Sadly mine broke a few months back :(
