So Thursday i went for my job interview. Kept firm eye contact, asked questions about the job, sat straight up, and spoke clearly and fluently. Needless to say the verbal interview went good because i took a class last quarter called Speech and Communications.

Anyway, the first part of the weld test was on .040 stainless ( smaller than 1/16th inch) with a corner and a T joint. The corner turned out flawless but on the T the plate warped too bad to weld so i stopped 3/4 through. Overall i think i did about a 3/5. The next part was 16gauge square tube on square tube which came out about a 4.7/5. The final part was MIG which came out a 4.8/5 just because the T joint needed about 1 more volt and little less wire speed.

So today i get a call from the supervisor asking if i want the job. Hell yes! I went right in and gave 2 weeks to my current employer and have had a smile on my face ever since. The job i work at currently treat there employees like **** and constantly hired in people at a higher wage all the while i was training there asses. I worked there for 1 year and 3 months and never got a raise. I asked for 2 and each time i got denied. This new job ill be getting a 1.50 more an hour and they get 4-10's. Ive never worked 4 10's but ive worked 6 10's and 6 12's and 7 days a motherfucking week for a whole month.

Just thought i would share.

This. Economy blows, so my company thinks they can treat us like **** since we can't get jobs elsewhere. Student loans here we come.

pretty much, they like to let everyone know that they are easily replaced from the hoards of jobless people. i tell them go ahead and do me a favor, unemployment for 79 months or whatever they do now, give me time to get my masters and teaching cert.

Thanks, Ive had access to a shop for a while now at my current job. All aluminum TIG work. Although those ******** never let me do **** on my own.

There are few things more gratifying than telling your boss to go **** himself while you make more money. I did this when I quit working for a cable company that treated me like poopoo and went on to make $30/hr doing consulting. I didn't even give them 2 weeks though, more like 8 days.

 

So it's at a car shop or welding shop?

 

Sweet deal... Congrats on the new job man. 4 10's are pretty nice as you get Friday to do WTF you want. Wish I had that rather the M-F 8-5... Blah! No wonder I don't get anything done on my Miata. :(

Based on the welding test... I'm gonna guess a full blown fabrication/welding shop.
