Nitous what do you think?

I got offered a sweet deal on a never installed ZEX dircet port nitrous kit and I was just wanting some opinions or words of wisdom.

Just be carefull you dont blow the welds on your intake manifold!

Delhole94 12-11-2006 12:53 PM

is that a problem with all cars? I'm probly gonna just do a 75 shot at the most...for now.

You mean you don't have a big flashing "Danger to manifold" warning programmed into your notebook? Geez man, I thought we were all mad tyte drag racings mofos.

Philip 12-11-2006 01:06 PM

Not a fan. Hate spending 30 bucks to fill the bottle constantly.

Kelly 12-11-2006 01:09 PM

If the deal is sweet enough, pick it up and sell it for a profit. Then apply those funds towards boost or more boost.

Philip 12-11-2006 01:10 PM

don't forget the side items, bottle heater, remote shutoff... the other expensive stuff you need to make it run right.

Kelly 12-11-2006 01:14 PM

That stuff adds up really quick. I think for a purge, bottle heater and remote shut off you are around $400.

Braineack 12-11-2006 01:21 PM

a 5.0 mustang with nitrous is fun. 500tq on a bone stock motor with 150 shot.

Delhole94 12-11-2006 01:32 PM

I just priced it out the shut off thing is $27 from NOS
A purge is around $100
A bottle heater is $120 from Zex
Then tuning....and filling the bottle...

Kelly 12-11-2006 01:37 PM

A remote shut off has got to be more than $27. I think you priced something else. Maybe the fuel pressure safetly switch that is really just a Hobbs switch and a couple fittings.

Delhole94 12-11-2006 01:38 PM

yea your right....crap...

Philip 12-11-2006 01:41 PM

around here gas is 3 bucks a pound, on a 50 shot I was draining a bottle in a week of daily driving :o

Delhole94 12-11-2006 01:44 PM

how often did you use it?

getsidewaysd1 12-11-2006 01:44 PM

I would rather just put the money towards a WI kit which would have close results and would be cheaper and easier to install.

Kelly 12-11-2006 01:48 PM

I wouldn't say close results. The only thing they really have in common is dropping IATs. If I could sell a water injection kit that would let you gain 50 whp and 50+ wtq at the same boost while preventing detonation I would be all over it:bigtu:

But I do agree. Nitrous seems like walking a fine line. I have heard water injection compliments it though:gay:

Delhole94 12-11-2006 01:50 PM

I don't know the first thing about WI....isn't that where you spray water in your engine:dunno:

this isn't the KA24, this is the newer 2.5L engine in the SE-R's and third gen altimas.

Braineack 12-11-2006 02:27 PM

I had an altima with a KA24, it's a good engine. Not the most refined.
The SE-R wasn't a BAD car, slow but cheap and got good mileage. Sold it when I bought the miata to buy the turbo actually.

Braineack 12-11-2006 02:46 PM

I got 110k on this badboy in 6 years. I barely change the dino oil and nothing but a slow window regulator had failed on it. the interior is falling apart, but thats another story.

Kelly 12-11-2006 02:49 PM

QR25 DE

No one really seems that interested in it.

at the time there were some turbo kits that made decent HP but I think the engine had so many problems out of the gate people stayed away.

magnamx-5 12-11-2006 03:55 PM

I dont know. If you use WI with a turbo and turn the boost a few psi I bet you could get 50+ hp and tq out of it.
