Not a fan of body kits, but...

This actually has some hints of brilliance shining through.

I think the overall body lines are good, but it has too much going on for me.

Vashthestampede 05-21-2009 11:15 PM

WOW! That shit is sick! Super clean and very well put together. The first actual nice looking autokonexion fastback. Too bad it had to be hacked apart and customized to make it look good.

Nice find. I don't visit m.net, so I only get to see something if its linked from here. Glad I didn't miss that.

NA6C-Guy 05-21-2009 11:38 PM

Holy shit. I didn't think I was going to like it, but something about it is awesome! I kind of don't like the front lights, but they match the rear.

Stein 05-21-2009 11:43 PM

Yeah, it's all 928/TVR/BMW Z4 rolled into one.

y8s 05-21-2009 11:51 PM

I kind of like parts of it but I dont like them all on the same car at the same time. It does look better executed than some of the body hacks I've seen, but I bet he has serious head/tail lighting issues.

Wild project though

the_man 05-22-2009 09:04 AM

I think it looks very 944ish. Which I like.

One comment, though- why do people list things like:

Aluminium brace bar
Purple ignition leads
Chromed rocker cover
Purple silicone hoses
Braided brake lines
Custom screen washer jets tucked under the bonnet

As "Engine" modifications? I don't get it. Most of those would embarass me rather than be something I'd want to brag about. I guess I just can't stand when somebody makes a really cool/fast looking car that has no balls to back itself up.

Braineack 05-22-2009 09:16 AM

looks like a beached whale, hope he doesn't sneeze on his fiberglass and it cracks in half.

I gave my praise over at m.net as well.

levnubhin 05-22-2009 09:22 AM

Looks like a pile of poo poo to me.

seriously, all that work is laughable, it looks like asshole. It has 10" tires for 90rwhp and a bloated estimated 3000lbs curb weight for crying out loud.

FRT_Fun 05-22-2009 09:28 AM

Wow I did not even notice the serious lack of anything performance oriented listed there. Poor thing.

Braineack 05-22-2009 09:35 AM

but it has a diffuser blocked by exhaust piping....its gotta be fast.

Joe Perez 05-22-2009 09:55 AM

I do sort of like the tail end. Reminds me a bit of a TVR.

The front end, OTOH, reminds me a bit of the vehicle they use to push commercial aircraft back from the gate.

Doppelgänger 05-22-2009 09:58 AM

Wait..all that work and only painted with a spray can? yuck.

car is slow... i'll pass.

budget racer 05-22-2009 10:19 AM

i like the idea.....but i hate that the car is "molded". it will all crack eventually.

Faeflora 05-22-2009 10:40 AM

Well haters, I think it looks pretty darn awesome. I've always wanted to do that moulded thing with the gaps bondoed or whatever.

BenR 05-22-2009 11:02 AM

Looks ok I guess, but wow that must be slow.

leatherface24 05-22-2009 11:10 AM

the molding work seems like it was done nicely....however that just looks like the most desperate approach of turning something into a turd and then midway into it saying, "oh crap, now i have to try and polish it somehow"

icantthink4155 05-22-2009 12:20 PM

From the doors back I like it. Dont like the front fenders, lip, turnsignals. And its ugly as sin from the back, fat ass.

spike 05-22-2009 12:38 PM

That has gotta be the ugliest piece of shit I have ever seen.

What the fuck was the owner thinking when putting that fucking ugly thing together......I wonder if he's a member of cr.net.

to me it looks like it needs another coat of bondo and some sanding....unless that's just the crap paint job...

l_bader 05-22-2009 06:24 PM

There is some hope. He writes, "Engine is just a standard 1.6 but I would love a decent V8 in there eventually." - Figure a mildly modified LSx and no one will know what it is.

When he upgrades the engine and then sands and paints the car, it may very well be something of interest.

I do appreciate the dedication to the bodywork. Some of it I like, some not so much...

wayne_curr 05-22-2009 07:01 PM

While its not to my taste, I appreciate what he's done. Looks like a lot of work and attention to detail.

Whats up with the passenger side gauge hood thing?

Marc D 05-28-2009 05:05 AM

If that thing is molded on, slapping a V8 on there would probably do more harm than good. The torque from the pulls would rip that body apart IMO.

Sam Amporful 05-28-2009 05:40 AM

I think it looks pretty good. Maybe its not a match for a whopping 90whp but as for the extensive bodywork I say job well done. I hope he does LSX the thing, that'll be pretty sick.

mrtonyg 05-28-2009 08:38 AM

I like what he did...but I agree, that thing is going to start cracking down the seems as soon as he hits a couple of rough spots on the road.

leatherface24 05-28-2009 09:26 AM

Brain, thats just a crap paint job with alot of sanding still left to do. its nothing more than a dirty butthole looking job. he has ideas, but the execution is terrible.

gospeed81 05-28-2009 10:27 AM

Atleast it's not fast...that way the firberglass might last longer.

cueball1 05-28-2009 02:13 PM

I like the lines of it and the overall look. Why oh why didn't he get rid of the barn doors and do a full hood? All that work to hide it's a Miata and he leaves the barn doors. Put some serious performance and quality finishing to back up the look and it's a good looking car. Likely a complete POS but he did a good job with the design just not the execution.
