I dont have their quick release, but I really like my works bell hub. it was a pretty easy install and required no drilling or anything else like some of these other hubs require

F NRG. It just looks like cheap quality shitty products. Thanks for sharing Hustler

Wow, what a shitty customer experience, thanks for sharing Hustler.

Why the ebay replacement, though? I thought for sure you'd replace the shitty product with a quality one from a reputable company. Or is this just a stopgap?

hustler 05-02-2011 11:57 PM

Stopgap. I don't really have the money for that now. I'm racing enough that I have to budget for another set of tires by the end of the year, and a few more entry fees.

Bought this one a little while ago, hoping I like it. Good reviews.

^ I have the same one.

It seems pretty decent. I've only had it for a month and my car has been on stands most of that time. It snaps into place nicely and seems to stay locked on with the little ears in the down position.

Pitlab77 05-03-2011 01:02 AM

Wow. That BS. I mean at least give a damn about a customers parts to see if the failure was user or manufacturer.

This is what I'm using in my build... http://www.sweetmfg.biz/products3.asp?edit_id=52 Driven my buddy's rock crawling rig a few times with this same hub and seems to work quite nicely... Not expensive either IIRC. Granted no provisions for horn wiring or anything if that is important to you.

I and some other people I know have used this for a long time without failing.

Sokool: what sort of tool should be used for the tiny hex bolts other than a hex key or socket? I've noticed the head gets messed up real easy when (un)installing a couple of times.

This is the one I've got on both cars and it's fucking awesome!

I've used a NRG QR hub for over 4 years and never had a problem. Though I do use the normal one (not a slim fit ones). I've heard of a few people having problems with the slim fit ones.

Never buy this heap of shit. The release mechanism hits the bolt-heads in the hub-mount and when you take the time to drill counter-sink holes you discover a shocking amount of play and can't use it.

Bringing this back, as I'm having problems with my NRG hub, what did you end up getting?

I have the same one, but hammered it on...I'll have to take it off with a cutting wheel next time. I was in a pinch and had to get to the track.

I'll get something else in the near future, not an NRG though.

FRT_Fun 09-08-2011 12:50 PM

Thanks for heads up, will be getting something soon, and NRG was on my list of possibilities.

chokeasphyxia 09-08-2011 02:50 PM

My NRG short hub splines don't line up correctly, also the clock spring tabs didn't line up. NRG says to install it without the clock spring, super helpful. Anyone with an NB get this setup (NRG short hub + quick release) to work?

phillyb 09-08-2011 03:33 PM

i haven't had my qr for very long...
previous car had an nrg qr as well, but never their hubs.
i'll keep an eye out on mine.
i don't do much aggressive driving though, so who the fuck knows.

I had the same issue on my JDM NB, but it is a race car so I just removed the clock spring. I'm using it with a dished OMP wheel so the NRG slim hub (without any quick release) brings it back to around the stock spot.

Sorry I can't be of any assistance, but it really looks like that hub is designed only for NA use if you want to retain the clock spring.

The NRG slim hub itself looked to be of reasonable quality.

TorqueZombie 09-08-2011 09:35 PM

Well after reading this the NRG is off my list and WB is out of my price range for awhile. I don't need a quick release but would like one. Hate ebay. Any other good choices rise up recently? I've got one from GoMiata thats working great. Not quick release though and from what I read NA to NB hub swaps don't work and no time to tear both my hubs apart to find out.
