Since the kid has been born, I've been storing a ****-ton of photos of all sorts of crap over 4 hardrives, multiple thumbdrives, 3 computers, and a few DVD's/CD's.

I don't know what I have really or where I've put multiples... a big mess.

I have 2 big external drives that I would like to use as permanent longterm storage... and my one desktop and a smaller external drive as temporary storage. i don't like leaving my externals permanently hooked up to the computer, so typically every few months, I hook them both up and transfer everything out of the other sources onto them, then unplug them... but over the years, it's turned into a mess.

I need a software program that will look at many sources at once, and organize it all, eliminate doubles, etc.

 

there are a few free duplicate finders at the usual download sites.

otherwise for organizing, you could use the windows photo gallery. it's also free and pretty good for what it costs.
