I had that idea too, but the air has to be replaced from somewhere, which is likely to be dirty air from around cracks. I was thinking take a home furnace filter and make it the intake. Only like $4. But thats just more stuff I can't really afford. Well, I can afford, but shouldn't be spending. It was stupid of me to start this paint project now anyway.

Two things:

They sell disposable filters that attach in line between the hose and your gun that will filter out oil and shit. They are only $5 at the paint store.

On the box fan, if you do it blowing out, you are sucking fumes through the fan which has sparks on the amature of the motor. Not good if you don't want to go boom. If anything, blow air in with a filter on the inlet of the box fan to pressurize your PVC and plastic paint booth.

I have a 10 x 20 "paint booth" that is 6 10x10 frames of PVC with plastic sheet attached. I store them roped into the rafters of the shop. If I need to paint I can pull them down, lay a plastic sheet on the floor, assemble the frames with zip ties, throw a plastic sheet over the top and go to town. Two of the panels have two furnace filters taped into them.

I'd have to steal that idea if I had a garage. Fold up paint booth walls stored in the ceiling.

Color matches anyway.

Paint is a good bit more orange peely, as the old paint is perfectly smooth from I suppose 15 years of weather and many rubbings with compounds and whatnot. Now my badges are gone too! Weee

I will eventually get around to wet sanding and polishing, maybe. The rest of the car still looks like ass. Don't want to make the panel stand out.
