Dont pigy the HD through the rom anymore man. that is probably your problem.

 

well i've only got one slot for both the hard drive and cd on my mobo

 

so go through the HD for authority to reach the Rom then. It has been a while since i had to troubleshoot PC problems though thank god so i am sorry i can't be of more help.

 

ok i changed the jumper on my hd and now it isn't reading the cd/dvd or the hard drive

NVM, i looked up the schematics and now have the cd/dvd as slave and the hard drive as master and it now works, thx for all the help you's guys

yeah thx again guys, now i have to go and download all of the XP service packs and what nots. I'm just thankful that none of my parts were DOA
