Default Picked up a 08 Civic Si Sedan

I traded the POS Genesis Coupe Track and the ole G35 sedan in on this little rocket. Friday was the last straw with the Genesis deciding it didn't want to close the wastegate...lol. The service dept at the local Hyundai dealership is like a gov run unemployment line.

Went and drove this car with the wife and was blown away buy the 4 door, giant trunk, mommy mobile. This thing hauls the bacon. I could easily see myself in a RWD version owning one for life. Anyways sweet score and I might have to add a rear sway and bring it to the track sometime. Why couldnt mazda put that motor and gearbox in a miata?

I dunno man, I see trading in a genesis coupe track and a G35 for a 08 civic as a downgrade.. I drove one a year or two ago, it wasn't that impressive to me.

The G35 was an 03 and getting a little tired, the Genesis was the biggest piece of **** I've ever owned. Worse than the LS2 GTO I burnt to the ground after 10k miles. If you want a product tested you let me have it for a year. The Infinity was very nice and reliable. I actually started autox in the G35 auto sedan.

Problems

03 G35
35k windsheld wiper motor casing cracked (04-up had metal casings)
100k crank sensor went out
110k hvac controls out

06 GTO
1k blown shocks
3k bent a-arm, ripped sway mount
5k extreeme front tire wear
7k ripped both sways out
10k burnt to the ground

10 Genesis Coupe 2.0 Track
3k Paint clearcoat, seat covers, hvac, seat rails, shifter rattle
5k drive by wire, peddle ***, ecu
11k wastegate malfunction, ecu malf, traction control malf

The GTO had more problems but the service dept was great. The local Hyundai service dept was rubbish. The tried to tell me the paint clear coat/seat covers were damaged from track use...lol

The SI isn't bad. I think I'd rather have that. Good choice IMO.

Wow!

$18,000 for an 08 Civic with 35,000 miles?

What's the price of a new Civic in the States?

I'm really floored!

lol...I didn't pay that. The SI sedan is a little rarer than your lx commuter.

I've been tracking cars for around 5 years now. Once you have a little seat time you can instantly tell if the designers had roadcourse/autox in mind. That little Civic is def a drivers car. Theres a lot more to cars than just the numbers motortrend/road and track spit out after a review. I don't think I ever bonded with my Genesis/Gto, my miata's and this Civic had an instant bond. Its the wifes car but I am feeling a little jealous.

If this thing was RWD I would go buy me one on Monday. It would be the perfect car, small but can carry 5 pass, large trunk, not flashy, great motor, tight box, civil when mulling the boss around town, ready for a back county romp at any minute. If I was the designer it would be RWD and come with Brembo's for quick track pad changing.

I had one of those semi-keep up with me on 6 psi. Theyre surprising, i had driven one before, but my wife didnt want the SI because she doesnt like manual trans. So we just have an lx.

I wish the Type R came to the states. I bet with a koni/gc, sways, pads, and a tune it could be close.

Those type r's are nice, the older ones had hand ported heads and such to set them apart too.

The only one that needed to be Lemoned is the Genesis, the GTO lemoned it self out...lol I'm a little hesitant to lemon a car that saw track duty. Nothing crazy just a little TT action.

It was 3 weeks old at Texas World Speedway

You don't tape over / remove your plates? Seems there are always the wrong people watching at the track.

I will attest to how nice Jakes new civic is, and also how much of a turd the genesis was. I drove it on multiple occasions and other than looking cool and having good power for such a **** motor, the thing was a hunk of ****. No car should **** up that fast, it was designed to fail.

If it was RWD, it wouldn't be a civic. Shoulda bought a different car if you're jonesing for that. Perhaps something like a miata.

Nice trade... I was pretty impressed with the new Si. The drive by wire throttle is a little less than inspiring, but otherwise it's a nice solid platform for some simple upgrades. Hondata has an ECU flash out for it now that has gotten some great reviews too. Now if only mazda could put such amazing engineering like the k20 motor into a miata. Any plans for it?
