If you cannot cut the tape, split the tape. The guy in charge of safety at our plant would argue there is a huge difference.
Notice the round metal protrusion on the box opening device below. It is not sharp, it tears the tape. Any cutting would require cut-resistant gloves.
Safety here is kinda weird. I even have to wear a high-vis vest to get to my office, since I cut-through the warehouse where dangerous wild fork lifts roam. Thank god the bright yellow reflective vest keeps them from attacking me.

Ironically, that would end very badly. The box is full of firestop pillows. These are full of intumescent, a material which expands wildly when exposed to fire.
There are a couple of spots in the top-floor mechanical space of the Hancock Tower which look a bit like that. Scares the ******* out of me.

Have you checked out their EZ-Path system? It's a lot less of a pain than running through firewalls and having to firestop, especially considering that at least 51% of the opening must be firestop (when sealing cables).

Unrelated: random newsroom photos:
And an unnecessarily large number of updates:
And a thing in progress:
And an icicle that I pulled off of the inside of my bedroom window:
And a thing that was really goddamned hard to calibrate:
And one of the many SCBA tanks lying randomly around the office:
And, when the **** did the Honda Accord become a 4WD SUV?
And a battleaxe that my increasingly senile father thought would be a good birthday gift for my 11 year old niece:
And me, underwater, looking at stuff:
And a really interesting handcrafted model of Falkor the Luck Dragon that my sister had commissioned by some lady in Russia:
And a frozen yogurt shop inside a bookstore in Florida. I thought hipster bookstores were supposed to have coffee shops in them? Oh, #Florida...
And me, balancing dice on dice:
And a room inside O'Hare Airport that I don't think I was supposed to be able to get into, that I got into:
And two of the guys who work for me who swear that they didn't plan this:
And a room that I need to figure out how to cram yet more **** into:
Is that a sufficiently random assortment of photos for this thread?
