I knew what it was. I posted the comment with the movie "Top Secret" in mind.

One of my all-time favourite movies:

He was found in his hotel room impaled upon a large electrical device. Our surgeons did what they could but it took them two hours just to get the smile off his face.

When it comes to exploded views and illustrations, no one can hold a candle to Peter Aschwanden.

I actually owned a copy of "How to Keep Your Honda Alive" with Peter Aschwanden's illustrations, back in the early 80s.

Agreed that Peter Aschwanden is a fabulous artist, and his illustrations were part of what made me read John Muir's VW manual from cover to cover like it was a novel. That book (and a crappy '71 Beetle) also taught me the foundations for pretty much every thing I know about auto repair today.

Still, the technical quality of the Bosch distributor drawing is fascinating. Notice how the whole thing is shaded, such that it properly reflects the assumption of a light source above and to the left of the part. Every little piece, even the spacers and bushings, is properly shaded, and the outer wall of the distributor housing is casting an accurate shadow on its own interior.

That's the kind of nice little detail you don't see in modern line drawings.

Not sure where to post this so I'll just leave it here...

Tesla Model S-Powered Exocet to Join the Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge

The numbers look great: It makes 416 horsepower and 446 lb.-ft. of torque, while weighing in at just 1996 pounds—that’s more than 2600 pounds less than the lightest trim of a stock Model S.

I am going on a 800 mile road trip on Mother's Day.
Mazda is loaning me a brand new ND or RF for the said trip, because my car is still in the shop.
