Rich friend's new car.
Damn it'd be nice to have real money. Guy who's position my wife took over when he retired. Built a monster house and got tired of his 3 year old Mercedes SL55.
New Aston. Mercedes was just too damn common. God I wish I had money...

He was going to go with the new SL-AMG but it's a little too hardcore and Mercedes is too common! Audi R8 is awesome but again, Audi does not have the panache and is too common even if the R8 isn't. Seriously. How often do you see Aston's on the road? I see far more Mazerati's. I've seen maybe 2 or 3 Aston's in the last year.
As a GT car it is wonderful. The interior could make you cry. Unbelieveable fit and finish. The paint looks like you could swim in it. It's a fantastic car for a retired guy that loves cars but isn't looking for a track beast like the AMG.
Of course he opted for the ejector seat, rear oil dump and the hidden pop up Walther. The machine gun and rocket option were a little over priced.

I think they are becoming more popular as there are more cars out in that price range. The top cars from Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Jaguar and the like have made traditionally outlandish Aston prices not seem so outlandish. A $115,000 Vantage doesn't seem out of line compared to the other cars in it's class. People spending that kind of money want more exclusivity and Aston gives them that.
Of course as the twerp on Top Gear argues, Astons aren't cool any more since they are becoming more popular due to the perceived exclusivity. Jeremy shut him right down on that one. Aston's are waaaay cool.

I watched a blue R8 cut through traffic (6 lane each way expressway) and blow by me like I was standing still yesterday. The LEDs are fun to watch when they switch between turn signal and running lamp.
