Why do people do this? What's the point of spending thousands of dollars building up a car, and then turning right around and selling it and evaporating that money?

I think we should give him some time to maybe give his reasons if he so chooses. He may have a really good reason and we can't talk out of our *** before he gives it.

But I agree that in general, quite a few people spend lots of money on builds just to sell it as soon as its done. So weird

Wow, can't keep **** secret on the internet huh? lol

Long story short, when the car broke I shouldn't have spent the money I did making it run again, what I should have done was throw a donor 1.8 in and be done with it, but I couldn't resist stepping it up a notch. I was more interested in having fun.

Now in some sort of bi-polar twist I've come to the conclusion that I'd like to pay off my existing debt at the age of 25 instead of continuing to pay it down over the course of 2 more years as my budget is setup. The good thing is I never incurred any extra debt while building the car (and I don't owe anything on it), but that also means I didn't make strides in paying anything off either. Some people support the decision and others say "debt is a part of life, get used to it". But I'd like to stop renting a house, get my own, and afford to finish flight school and/or college, none of which I can do currently.

The other issue is I don't have a daily driver currently, the Miata is it, and we all know modified cars can have their moments. While it was broken my mom was letting me use her '92 Toyota Previa (yes, awesome vehicle) to get around, well she's selling that so I'll have nothing to fall back on. If I do sell the car, I'll probably end up with a cheaper daily first, then someday down the road I'd like to find a donor Miata shell and start tinkering with an LS swap since I won't have this car anymore.

Sorry for the long and drawn out read, hopefully it make sense.

Im in the same boat in a way. I am saving for a house and there have been many times where i wanted to splurge 3 or 400 on something but had to resist the urge. At this rate, in a year ill have my 20% down payment and graduated with my AA in welding.

Come back to the turd scene...But seriously I am sad to see this happen, I too understand your reasoning as I just decided to go back to school. Luckily I haven't devoted so much time and money to mine yet and I have no reason not to keep it. Just when it started to REALLY become yours which is truly a special moment after buying a well known car in a community.

Best of luck hope to see you still frequent here and 6S.

You know, for a cheap daily driver you can always just sell the parts off the miata and have a miata to drive...

Damn I wish I was that responsible. I'm still spending money I dont have on my car lol. I just lost my job and i'm already pricing new suspension and a trip to see the 12 hrs of sebring!

I guess i'm just one of those people that likes to live life one day at a time...or maybe 6 months at a time. Owning property is overrated!

Well it sucks to see your car go. But I think it's great that you have such a good attitude about selling it and knowing that you will eventually build another.

I, on the other hand, could never see myself parting with my car....ever.

Same, and I am very very sad to see this happen.

but i understand rotor's reasons for this, and i fully support his decision he is making! if there is sombody that knows how to get life on track, its him. he has help me with that! and if it wasnt for him my car would be no where close to where it is now!

his car is well worth the the asking price!
