Saab 9-2x

So I got rear ended on my bike and its most likely going to be totalled and with the state of my miata I want something reliable and a rebadged wrx would be awesome although my budget is going to be around 6k. From what I've seen its gonna be at or over 100k miles. I know a lot of guys here drive subies so I thought I'd get y'alls opinions on the reliability factor.

Braineack 05-23-2012 08:58 AM

I'd love one, just hard to find.

18psi 05-23-2012 09:27 AM

you need double that to get anything worth a damn.
but otherwise they're fantastic cars.

I'm the resident subaru fanboi

looks like that's about the going rate: http://www.cars.com/for-sale/searchr...RM&enableSeo=1

considering that site only has 47 of them online at all, again makes me say: good luck.

18psi 05-23-2012 09:53 AM

What else can you get for 12k that has the "whole package" like a subaru?
I'm not saying there's nothing out there, or that its the best, just curious.

2ndGearRubber 05-23-2012 10:00 AM

They're very hard to find. Why not just buy a subaru?

Braineack 05-23-2012 10:01 AM

cause then you're "that guy"

I was recently DD shopping and spent a month looking all over the country for a good 92x at a reasonable price. Experienced the same problem with a 5 speed 4wd Honda Element and the 04-05 GLI Jetta. Finally got a GLI. IF you're not in a hurry, you can find one. I missed out on 2 nice 92-xs by a couple of days each. You have to look constantly and be willing to make a trip.

I've put on a little weight since that picture.
Also my partner and I upgraded to an 08.

More interior space for our scissoring

its funny because based on real subaru ads they are only for: dog lovers, hippys, and liberals

Why get a Saab 9-2x over a WRX Wagon?

How about cheaper insurance, that's a good reason.

Nicer interior? Also good.

Good luck finding something for $6k...most of the WRXs I see in that price range are 2002s and 2003s with lots of miles and are pretty beat. No way you're going to find a 5mt 2006 92x for anywhere near that much. I looked pretty hard for a few months and was unable to ever find a '06 MT. The '05s are a bit easier to come by, but again $6k isn't really enough...

18psi 05-23-2012 10:15 AM

They are for cat loving conservative homosexuals too.

soloracer 05-23-2012 10:16 AM

What about dog-loving homosexual conservatives??? Yes, I know a couple of those, though I don't understand them.

Oh, I missed the $6k part! I was willing to spend $10k and had a tough time!

for 6k you can get a honda civic.
or a very good weekend of hookers and blow.

not a decent subaru

curly 05-23-2012 06:50 PM

You can however, get a decent Saab:

http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/3017348263.html

If you want a Subaru, get a Subaru. If you want a Saab, get a Saab. Don't get the bastard child of the two.
