My wife had a 2000 9-5 Aero. I had a 2002 9-3 Viggen.

For a DD car, great buy, efficient, reliable, respectable, fun sedan the 9-5 Aero is amazing. My wife has an Infinity FX35 now and really wants to ditch it for another 9-5. We spent an hour at a car lot specializing in Euro's. Sat in nearly every sedan or coupe made in the last 5 years by Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, Audi, Volvo and Saab. The 9-5 Aero wins for driver comfort hands down. The seats fit great. The steering wheel is just right. The features and amenities are top notch. Gas mileage is phenominal on the freeway. She used to get 30 mpg in her commute. Reliability? The only problems we had were the common Saab mistakes, the SID display needed to be replaced - the COPs were replaced - both under warranty - they were common problems that Saab extended the warranty on or recalled cars for!

Now to price. New $40,000+. 3 years old with 30K? $15,000. They are a steal with a couple years and a few miles on them. What could be better? Why would you buy a 5 year old Camry or Accord like everyone else on the road? Forget that. Be a little disti nctive and classy for reasonable money. The Saab is a terrific car.

I'll admit it isn't the drivers car BMW is. The shifter is rubbery, the steering more numb but for a DD car it is comfortable and the Aero can get with it when it needs to.
