I'm also pretty sure we could find Mr. you know who saying a few stupid things if we looked (youtube?) or anyone for that matter.
y8s: I'm guessing that Loki was saying Bush took time out of his day to criticize Kerry when we have other, more important matters at hand. Just a guess.

Kerry is an elitist. Thats why he lost the election.
He is also out of date, because the entrance standards of our military today far exceed those of the olden days. At least for the high tech jobs, which is most of them. Please correct me if I am wrong!?

If you think about it, the U.S. military is the best organised and most capable group of human beings on the planet. Even without the equipment. Its almost too bad it is headed up by a politician. That whole balance of power crap....
Cracks me up how big this "news" is.
This is certainly not the first time a politician has screwed up and said something that offended someone. In fact, they do it all the time. Guess what? With 300 million people watching and listening to you, it's pretty damn difficult not to offend someone. Why do you think 98% of politicians all sound alike and never say anything constructive? Because they don't want to offend the people that voted them into office (or will vote them in).
It's like a game to appeal to the most people while offending the least...all the while straddling this tightrope between two black and white areas of every major "hotbutton" issue.
Then we complain about the fact we don't have politicians with convictions, but we're the ones that've constructed this two-party system that forces people to give a black or white answer to a gray question. We get angry with the fact we only have two real choices every presidential election, and they both have basically identical rhetoric, but we've done it to ourselves.
Can you tell I get frustrated with politics?

I teach adolescents who are listening to every word and then rush home to tell their parents. Somehow, I manage not to say rude things about ethnic groups or professions. And I also have to listen for these attitudes and constantly correct them. I think our leaders should be held to the same standards.

Again, as a professional, you are always held to a higher degree of responsibility than a layperson.
I stand corrected. Our leaders, or those who want to be them, should also be modelling respect. I guess I expect them to at least be held to the same standards. I must be so naive, because I always get shocked when they disappoint me. I guess power does corrupt, no figure.
Some of the "big" ones:
Gary Condit - Murder?
Bob Packwood - Sexual Harassment
Clinton, Bill - Sexual Harassment, perjury, etc.
Clinton, Hillary - Rose Law firm scandal, and generally being a bitch
Marion Barry - Smoking crack on camera!
Jim Traficante - Bribery
Ted Kennedy - Murder
And this is just off the top of my head.

The republicans jumped on kerry primarily because they fucked themselves over and the public/media found out about their scandals.
do I think for a second the timing of the scandals is coincidence? no. is it WRONG that the information may have been held until election time? eh who cares. but it's definitely ridiculous that the republicans ACCUSE people of anything because of the timing!
"We're not bad for soliciting pages / strangling our mistresses / taking bribes! It's all the democrats fault that these stories came out!"
So which is worse? having "good" timing orrrrr being a hypocrite, immoral, and breaking the law?
Actually, I think they're a lot more common then we realize. That's probably why we only hear about the big ones because politicians put their foot in it so often, news agencies don't really find it interesting anymore.

Personally I could care less what these people do in their private lives as long as they do right by the nation (let the law enforcement deal wit it).
People are too obsessed personal conduct instead of how they handle the office.

IE. Personally I would never support abortion and I want the lowest taxes ever. But as a member of society I understand the burden of taxes necessary on all people and the freedom people should have to decide issues for themselves.

We have two Darwins goin at it here in TN: Bob Corker and Harold Ford Jr. Put both of their brains in a humminbird it MIGHT fly straight 9or upside down).
