Sixshooter Visits Indy in February

I'm visiting with a trade show in late February. I'm not sure what my afternoon/evening schedule will be yet but I thought I'd try to make contact with our MT brethren indigenous to the area.

Who's there?

concealer404 01-21-2015 01:25 PM

Btabor, Hhammerly, myself, and thenuge24.

Definitely down for grabbing dinner/beers.

sixshooter 01-21-2015 02:43 PM

Sweet.

Looks like Feb 23-26.

Monk 01-21-2015 03:42 PM

Hmmm... I might be available then. Boys night out and group shower?

Bump, 2 weeks away. This still happening?

Monk 02-09-2015 10:06 AM

I'm still in.

sixshooter 02-09-2015 10:37 AM

Yep. I'll be flying in on Monday and leaving Thursday. I'm looking forward to meeting a few more of you guys.

But I'm really here for the sewage:
WWETT: Water & Wastewater Equipment, Treatment & Transport Show

concealer404 02-09-2015 10:38 AM

What are we feeling we want to do and when? Grab a bite to eat and some beer to drink at a local watering hole with lots of beer on tap and good wings?

sixshooter 02-09-2015 12:51 PM

I'll be on foot so...

And I don't know what all they have planned for us, but I believe there will be some hospitality events provided to me on Tuesday and Wednesday evening from what I've heard. I guess Monday might be my best bet.

I can pick you up.

There's a couple decent places downtown, but i'm kindof feeling The Ale Emporium.

The Home of Honest Pizza and World Famous Hermanaki Wings-|-

These are the best wings in the state, all the food is good, actually. Two large bars, good bartenders, and a pretty large beer list.

Monk 02-09-2015 01:22 PM

Yes please. Where are you staying?

sixshooter 02-09-2015 02:05 PM

It looks like they've booked me at the Fairfield Inn between the convention center and the university, by the corner of West and Washington.

concealer404 02-09-2015 02:10 PM

Yeah that's 3-4 blocks from where i work. We have plenty of options on how to work this.

shuiend 02-09-2015 06:25 PM

Take them out some turbokitty stickers Steve. Pretty sure each one with worth at least a beer.

sixshooter 02-09-2015 06:32 PM

But concealer isn't even a subscriber!:D

HHammerly 02-09-2015 06:51 PM

I am in also for going to eat, going to fast times or whatever

He gets MFZ stickers then.

sixshooter 02-09-2015 10:25 PM

Miataforumz decals for everyone!

GeneSplicer 02-10-2015 08:17 AM

Drink beer then crash carts at fast times... don't cart if your obese - can hardly breath as your knees get jacked into your gut bc small cart

Monk 02-10-2015 08:27 AM

Are there go-carts there or something? Now I sorta want to ride go-carts.

concealer404 02-10-2015 08:29 AM

Fast Times yes. Don't know their hours though. Never been.

Monk 02-10-2015 08:31 AM

Oh derp. I thought Genesplicer was talking about the same place we are eating.

bahurd 02-10-2015 08:33 AM

Bi-Level track.

Fastimes - The Most Exciting Corporate Karting Events in Indianapolis! Great Team Building Exercises!

Monk 02-10-2015 08:46 AM

They are open until 10 on Monday, but it's $24 for 8 minutes of driving, and they have this disclamer:
"Adrenaline is the Only Buzz You Need: Anyone suspected of consuming drugs or alcohol will not be permitted to race. You may be asked to take a breathalyzer test."

concealer404 02-10-2015 08:50 AM

I'm too poor for that right now. I'm in the middle of discovering that there's really no cheap way to build a reliable Miata, even if it isn't turbo.

That doesn't interest me as much because it is expensive and, frankly, I've been having some issues with vertigo for a few and it's taking the fun out of changing directions quickly. I thought it was allergies effecting my inner ear but IDK.

There was a guy that got killed there about two years ago, the karts are fast enough to get you in trouble if you dont exercise some common sence.
I am open for whatever you guys feel like doing

Sell me your hardtop then. I can fund your build with all of your old shit that I'm buying.

The dollar to fun ratio is a little too high for me. Beer and wings sounds perfect though. I can also play taxi.
Have we settled on a time yet?

sixshooter 02-10-2015 12:24 PM

How far is the airport from where I am staying? My flight arrives at 2 something local time and I will need to check in. After that, maybe a few minutes work on the laptop and I'm good.

20-30 minutes. Airport is far-ish west side, and you're staying right downtown.

Monk 02-10-2015 12:30 PM

It's about a 15 minute drive, up 70.

Edit: Ben's estimate is probably closer. Is 69 still FUBAR?

HHammerly 02-10-2015 01:09 PM

26 minutes

It's not bad going souf. They're mostly done with all the construction, so it's just normal traffic things.

sixshooter 02-20-2015 08:30 AM

What the hell are you guys doing up there? It says it is -6*F at 8am this morning!
Do Miatas even work at -6*F? I have no experience with that.

There is no hotel shuttle from the airport so I have to take a municipal thing called "Go Green" or get a cab. I'm told the Go Green is OK, but that was from a desk worker at the hotel.

I'll be arriving at the airport by 1:30 and be at the hotel there around 2:30pm on Monday.

Monk 02-20-2015 08:34 AM

Yeah, it blows. I had to hitch the huskies to the miata this morning to make it to work.
I have no idea what the "Go Green" thing is. Maybe a bus?
I'll be up there around 5.

concealer404 02-20-2015 08:57 AM

Yes this weather is garbage. Been a weird winter, haven't see cold like this since i moved here. Miatas work in this weather, though i'll probably just be driving the Cherokee.

Alright so what's the concrete plan here? Do we all just want to meet at the Ale Emporium, trickle in whenever?

Monk 02-20-2015 09:02 AM

Works for me. What time are you picking up Steve?

Rafa 02-20-2015 09:07 AM

Pics, or this whole trip never happened :giggle:

sixshooter 02-20-2015 09:37 AM

Go Green is the shuttle bus to the convention center area hotels, apparently. I have made a reservation for it.

I'll be chilling (probably literally) at the hotel until someone comes for me on Monday.

concealer404 02-20-2015 09:51 AM

Well... that's why i need a time so i can get you. And PM me your number. :giggle:

Anytime after 3pm should be fine. PM forthcoming shortly.

concealer404 02-20-2015 09:58 AM

Let's put this another way. Post up 1) If you're coming and 2) What time you can meet?

Monk 02-20-2015 10:04 AM

1.) I don't understand the question
2.) 5

concealer404 02-20-2015 10:18 AM

I think i made this too complicated.

I'll pick Steve up around 4-4:30 and we'll head up.

sixshooter 02-20-2015 02:04 PM

That's good. I like heading up.

rleete 02-20-2015 02:10 PM

What kind of psycho leaves Florida for the frozen north in the coldest part of the year?

sixshooter 02-20-2015 03:53 PM

That's a legitimate question. Someone in Indy will find out the answer.

bahurd 02-20-2015 04:01 PM

More legitimate is why have a trade show in the north in the coldest month of the year....

Most of us would be looking at warmer climes to go see new stuff and glad hand! Never could figure out trade show rational even after being in them for many years.

sixshooter 02-20-2015 04:52 PM

There is another trade show going on the very same week...

in New Orleans...

I guess I won the lottery. There aren't any Miata guys in New Orleans.

concealer404 02-23-2015 09:08 AM

I forgot to grab Monk's damn exhaust. :giggle:

Putting in to leave a couple hours early so i can run back home and grab it, then pick up Steve.

Monk 02-23-2015 09:38 AM

I'm still collecting trubo bits, so I'm in no hurry. I can pick it up at the dyno day.

concealer404 02-23-2015 09:46 AM

You sure?

Monk 02-23-2015 09:53 AM

Yep. It's too fucking cold to crawl around on the ground right now anyway.

concealer404 02-23-2015 10:01 AM

Alrighty cool. Now i can be on my last call of the day where i complain about the recovery that failed over the weekend. Again. RAGE.

sixshooter 02-23-2015 10:55 AM

Boarded the plane.
70*F in Tampa. I'm in for a shock.

See you guys soon.

concealer404 02-23-2015 12:34 PM

Hahahahah YEAH you are. Windchill sucked balls walking from the garage to work this morning. My meager facial hair frosted over.

You know that my car was covered with pollen from the oak trees blooming when I left?

I switched turbos in the driveway in a t-shirt in 75 degree weather on Saturday afternoon. This is different.
