I buy a ton of shit online and either use my debit card or PayPal for everything. I haven't had a CC in over 5 years. If its local, cash is king.
Lucky for me I never had my shit stolen or abused. Back in the day I was a maniac with my cards. The companies would call me regularly to make sure it was really me. lol |

Even if you do something stupid the bank will refund your charges. My buddy forgot to pull his debit card out of the atm and someone nabbed it and emptied his bank account. He was broke for 2 or 3 days while they investigated/reversed everything but thats the price you pay for being stupid I guess. That is a Credit card "Skimmer" as they're known. Has a small flash storage device inside and stores card data after a quick swipe. Everything imprinted on your card is also in the data string read from the magstrip. Magstrip writers aren't very expensive and pretty easy to acquire, or you can just use a "clean" laptop and someone else's open 802.11 wifi connection to order shit off the interwebz. POS Systems used in smaller companies often store CC info in an unencrypted SQL database which can easily be compromised or accessed. VISA has compliance "laws" which they're attempting to implement into POS systems at fine dining locations where your card never leaves your possession cutting back on the possibility for theft. The waitstaff would bring a small handheld device by your table and you'd swipe the card there. They're small, encrypted wireless devices which connect back to the POS system. Here is a fun fact. Sonic uses wireless serial data terminals for their CC transactions. lul, I own wifi all day long. I don't care how secure your "online store" is. MITM attacks win every time. Why spend the time to break encryption when I can put myself before it? As for the above with the sonic wifi, lol I didn't know that. That is a really really bad idea.

I had a thread on here last year.
1st they got my Debit card: apparently I was in NYC buying clothing. LOL I usually buy my clothing at Target or Outlet stores. Easy to spot when I was "shopping" at boutque stores in NYC while at the airport. 2nd was my CC: I was apparently in Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City airport racking it up at the duty free store. |
