I am a firm believer that if alcohol and tobacco are legal, marijuana should also be legal. It's no different than cigarettes from a material aspect. The high is shorter lived than alcohol and the plant matter is less dangerous to the respiratory system than tobacco. The hypocracy that criminalized marijuana is a disturbing thing. If someone ***** their life up due to weed, chances are they would have done the same with alcohol or some other substance had weed not been created by whomever/whatever created this planet.
Preach.

I don't drink at all and have a blast high. And most of the time I just vaporize, so I avoid all the toxics and **** anyways. But it doesn't consume my life, only the boring times.

Here is a small amount of legal stuff on the drug:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1937_Marihuana_Tax_Act

There was some good info on wikipedia about the health affects too (how it is way more dangerous than cigarettes via the toxins). Even though I don't smoke it I believe that occasional use isn't a big danger to your health. I work in a chemical plant and have probably inhaled far more dangerous substances.

The only logical reasons I can think of as to why it is still illegal are:

1. Propaganda did a good job brainwashing a lot of people.

2. The alcohol industry is BIG business.

Make it legal and most of the current problems with it go away:

1. Drug dealers are replaced with legal stores, and contract disputes can be solved with courts rather than guns. Most participants do not have this issue now, but it is a problem with large distributer scale transactions and in the ghettos.

2. No more gateway. Blackmarket drug dealers often carry a variety of drugs, but there would be no point for them to carry pot if they can not make money off of it. If you take pot smokers out of the black market, they will be much less likely to encounter the oppotunity.

3. Stronger enforcement of age restrictions. Remember the pain of having to get someone old enough to buy you beer, but being able to get pot nice and easy at school?

4. Tax evasion. Oh my the taxes we are missing out on. It has been illegal for a while now, and yet there is still a persistant market that does not show signs of dissipating. Want to help fix America's budgetary issues, well here is a nice chunk of change.

**EDIT to add**

5. Health issues. Less expensive and grown with higher quality and regulation will allow healthier users. Vaporization, food goods, and drinks. It does not have to be smoked.

Another reason it was made illegal back in the day was the cotton industry. Hemp (which does not contain THC) produces a much better fiber than cotton and cotton had the power so out went the hemp. I think it's still difficult to grow hemp here. So the illegalization of marijuana was basically a skapegoat for saving the cotton industry.

Ok, alot of the stuff said here are truths, and a few are misconceptions(propaganda).

First off, with the toxins deal. http://www.webmd.com/smoking-cessati...arijuana-smoke

There you can see they compare one marijuana cigarette to a tobacco cigarette.

here are the problems with this study:

#1. "The nitrogen-based fertilizer used on the marijuana plants -- which all came from the same batch of Canadian pot plants -- may have affected the results. The temperatures used to burn the cigarettes may also have been a factor" YOU DONT USE FERTILIZER ON WEED, at least not around here. The kind of weed that you put fertilizer on makes you hallucinate and other um... bad effects compared to an all natural plant.

#2. They compare the substances on a 1 to 1 scale. 1 joint to one cig of equal size. Should be comparing a few cigarettes to one bowl of weed, because thats closer to how they are actually consumed. Ive never met a person who chain smokes joints, and i know way to many that smoke packs of cigarettes a day. Fyi one bowl would be about 1/6th of a cig.

#3 People who do smoke alot(medical reasons) usually are smart enough to vaporize and therefore avoid all the problems with toxins right there.

Also if you really want to know why it is illegal check this link(its long but detailed and accurate)

http://blogs.salon.com/0002762/stori...naIllegal.html

Its a really interesting article(not full of crazy theories and mumbo jumbo.), if you read it let me know what you think.

What pisses me off the most is most Americans think it is illegal because of scientific proof.

Sorry for coming off as some marijuana advocate.. I'm just angry that nobody in our society cares to seek the truth and change what is wrong and oppressive.

Probably the same ones that believe DDT was banned for scientific reasons and think Congress is doing the right thing grandstanding about steroids.

<---burnout and proud!!!

Look bottom line is to each their own, some people are fine some aren't....the only reason its not legal is because of all the hidden money behind keeping it Illegal...think bout it guys, problems = money...IMO thats also why we aren't already utilizing an alt energy source, etc...
Unfortunately the enormous amounts of money that are to be made by legalizing, and the ridiculous possibilities both financially and otherwise in going "green" but thats STILL nothign compared to the money, the power, and the control thats currently had by the higher ups! You know just how much tobacco & alcohol makes for these guys??
And these are just 2 things out of many more...
Gonna go take another hit now...

Ive smoked plenty of both tobacco and weed. Quit tobacco 13 years ago and now smoke only the occasional bowl when with freinds who may have it. Other than a little binge in Amsterdam last summer I dont buy it any more

Haha..I can somewhat identify with these comments. Back in ages of antiquity I was a 3-4 pack a day smoker, kept that nasty habit for years until one day I decided I didnt want to die from it...and quit. Smartest thing I have ever done. That was 20-25 yrs ago.

During that same era I was a stage manager for a rock band so herb, peruvian marching powder, and other pass times were not unusual. I think I toasted enough brain cells on that all that ****. Weed is a waste of $ and time. I lost several friends to weed. Its like anything else, it can take over ones life if you let it. If I want to burn brain cells nowdays I sip a martini.

As for cigars, I never understood the facination with smoking something that smells like rotten ***. Now a pipe, thats a different matter. But I gave mine up when I ditched the cigs.

This one had a slight hint of vanilla (I didn't roll it but I gave it the vanilla flavor):

I remember when the story broke but not much about it. I believe that cop was there for the bust. I think the nabbed them when the electric company reported the house was using 10X the normal electric rate. Pretty damn stupid if you ask me.

If you are going to go to all that trouble, set up a generator and bring in your own fuel.
