Still alive. You monster.
83 hours.
(ish) ((I'm confused by this potato sack nonsense.)) Honestly, I can't recall having eagerly awaited the release of a videogame since Gauntlet on the NES. In 1987. |

I don't get it, are you a bot or human with boots?
Genius that they're releasing day after tax day...are accounts who finally have time off their main target market? |

Both. Neither. Ok, we promise to stop enhancing the truth. Some people have too much time on their hands. http://img40.imagefra.me/i54f/thradd..._1e9_u77ts.jpg |
some people have even more time on their hands.

I've been doing my part by playing defense grid. |
I wasn't really planning on playing any games in the near future but I will have to set aside a hundred hours or so for this <G>.
FWIW, the GTA and Halo releases were much anticipated on my end. The Halo 3 was a big letdown for me as was GTA IV which I quit without finishing. Here's hoping that Portal 2 will be everything I am thinking it will be. http://www.geekologie.com/2010/05/02/portal-tats.jpg http://static.gamesradar.com/images/...icle_image.jpg |
Me thinks I shall be dropping by the bakery counter at Vons this week and picking up a black forest cake.
|
Just got back from dinner with the parents. Aunt made cupcake sized chocolate cheesecakes for desert (so much for the diet) and the were delicious. I had two.
|
Were they delicious and moist?

Did you try Reach? Much more epic. ODST was meh but really fun. |
Dollars = hours?
|
maybe. time does = money.
I can't say I miss not having halo 3 after the first two on the original xbox. sure it would have been fun but not enough to affix me to a console. |
I really tried to get back into gaming a couple of years ago when my sister gave me an Xbox 360 and a copy of Halo 3. Just couldn't make it work. There's only one way to do an FPS, and that's with a mouse and keyboard. I've been able to make the leap from the ole' cursor keys to WASD, but this thumbstick business is just bullshit.
Ah well. It's a hell of a good video playback device. |
I went from crappy on a controller and good on a keyboard to awesome on a controller and decent on a keyboard, you get used to it.
Halo was epic for it's time, Halo 2 was long and boring. Halo 3 was prettier and the story was better, Try ODST and Reach, they're fun. Especially the rocket packs in Reach. |

Did you try Reach? Much more epic. ODST was meh but really fun. I did try Reach but didn't think it was as good as the first two. I believe ODST is only for Live (I may be wrong) but since all five of my 360's are banned I'll never get a chance. As far as console vs computer - I still play all my stuff on console (or I just fire up one of my arcade machines). I don't care about the graphics that much and enjoy using a joystick vs keyboard. Actually, I've never played a modern FPS on a computer so I may not know what I am talking about. The last FPS I played on a computer was in 1997 when I played Quake 2. I would try some computer games now (in fact I have Painkiller sitting over here now to check out) but I don't have the CPU/GPU to play anything modern. http://cubemedia.ign.com/cube/image/...17717_640w.gif http://www.videogamecritic.net/image...nd_dragons.png |

If you don't mind me asking, how did you get banned from Xbox live? I didn't even think that was possible with some of the retards on there.

I'm still awaiting Duke Nukem Forever, I still have a few mags that talked about it back in '97... Man, I'm one loyal person to wait this long.

Honestly, some of the best videogames I've ever seen were nothing more than a couple of glowing squares moving around the screen or, at best, some coarse, low-resolution bitmapped sprites (or some coarse, high-resolution vectors). Pretty graphics and huge, immersive worlds just don't do anything for me. I'm not saying it's bad thing for a game to look pretty, only that there seems to come a point when making the game's universe large and beautiful starts to take precedence over making a game simple to learn and easy to enjoy. As far as console vs computer - I still play all my stuff on console (or I just fire up one of my arcade machines). I don't care about the graphics that much and enjoy using a joystick vs keyboard. But there are other games, mostly those employing a first-person perspective which feature the ability to "look around" at the environment as a separate task from moving through the environment, where I find the mouse to be the most natural input method. And of course, I think that these games are getting far too complicated. I don't want to have to have a printed chart next to be describing the four hundred different actions I can perform with various combinations of button presses. Frankly, it doesn't bother me that Samus' gun never runs out of ammo, and I've never thought that the experience of playing Metroid would be enhanced if I had to remember to load a new clip every fifteen shots. Personal opinion: stop trying to make videogames realistic. I want to play then to have fun, not to accurately simulate, in every detail, the life of any real-world individual. I mean, in Call of Duty 6, are you going to have to remember to shave, cook breakfast, dig a latrine, have the corpsman check out that weird growth on your leg, and attend sexual harassment training? Fuck it. Just give me a glowing dot to shoot at, and maybe a "boop" sound when I hit it. (in fact I have Painkiller sitting over here now to check out)

I like how in your example there are Navy personnel at the same COP/PB where Soldiers are having to dig their own latrines and cook their own breakfasts. :bowrofl: |

Huh. I was kind of expecting something interesting to happen on the glados@home website. That was antithetical.

Had to work today so I only got to play a few levels before hitting the sack. So far so good! Can't wait for 5pm to roll around:noes:

prez of company: oh yeah? you going to rush home and play? me: yup... I'll leave at 2 or whenever the truck comes with it. prez: too bad we don't have that PS3 set up in the conference room attached to the big screen me: I told you we need to make our head mounted displays stereo HDMI compatible! prez: hey EE guy! EE guy: blah blah hdmi 1.4 chips weren't available when this first came up blah blah sad. I might have to limit myself to non-3D |

Best Buy wins. I spent 53 dolla and received a 10 dolla gift card.
|
One of my favorite games EVER was Black for XBox1. I've waited years for Black 2 to come out (for the 360) but the prez of the company said unless they can do something new with the game there was no reason to release another one. I am very interested to know if Portal 2 is just the same old thing as the original. Anyone want to comment on the originality?
FWIW, I've had the game for 3 days but have not gotten around to playing it due to 12 hour shifts (I need my sleep and know that I will not get any once I start). |

And hey, just what I needed, yet another little resident doo-dad hanging out in the system tray. Hooray! Once I figure out this Steam thing, I'll be logged in as thraddax. |
Steam is easy Joe, although is a useless 16mb leech when you're not using it. It's weird to pay the same price for nothing, although I suppose I just end up throwing away my game boxes and never read the pamphlets anyways.
I'm going to get the xbox version, I want it to run smoothly and haven't had good luck with my PC. |
IMO playing this on the PC is the only way to go with this game, unless you're really good with the whole thumbstick controller thing which I never was. I also have a pretty beefy gaming computer...
I'm about 2/3 through the game now. Momentarily stuck. Can't find any decent video walkthroughs for the section I'm on now, so it's time to sleep on it and give it another go tomorrow. :) So far though, this game has been fantastic. Different enough from the first game to keep me interested, but still has the same elements that kept me interested in the first game. 100% recommended. But you DO need to play the original to really get what's going on in the 2nd. |
No, amazon is win. PS3 version for $59 with 20 dollar amazon credit.
comes with PC use code. savegames transfer over to the PC version. |

Minor gripe: Holy cow, have they gone over the deep end with the graphics on this one. That XKCD cartoon was right. I could easily play the first one with all of the detail & resolution settings maxed. I had to really crank down the settings on P2 in order to achieve a smooth display. Major gripe: In the original, if you were holding an object, you could release it either by pressing E or with a mouse click. In this one, you have to release it by pressing E, even though you can't launch a portal while you're carrying an object anyway. Praise: Well, shit. It's Portal. +2 points for clever use of the phrase "lethal military android" in a bureaucratic context. |
Nice title change!
If you have to turn the graphics down, you need to do some upgrading. |

Ehh I'd say that video card is the reason why. I usually make it a point to spend at least 150-200 on a video card when building a new system.
