Default tastes like chicken

Finally figured out a way to gain control of a squirrel population gone out of control- grow a tree that's the perfect shape for a Red Tail Hawk nest. That's a chunk of squirrel in his mouth- look closely at the nest. This tree is about 50ft from my house- in metro Atlanta.

hawks love cities,

i saw one of them in my cousins yard standing on a rabbit. Got close enough to take a nice picture and it flew off. Tried to get over a fence and nailed the rabbit against it, and dropped it. hilarious

That's a great picture. Good job.

Nowhere in the same league, but inspired by your pic, here's the two little guys who live in the trees behind my house (pictures taken a few minutes ago):

wow how do you guys get such good picture opportunities? I have two hawks circle low over my backyard all day, and the moment I get the camera they get higher and faster. Several times I've looked out the window to find one of them sitting on the patio next to the grill.

Incidentally, they are amazing to watch hunt. I've seen them swoop on the kill and take it away, but am yet to actually see them eat it.

I have a rather large lens. Brain is an expert with the cell phone camera.

We've got an overload of squirrels here- counted 12 at one time on my deck. So I suppose it's only natural the hawks came for the meal. Last year had a family of red shoulders in my neighbor's yard and they cleaned house. I'd be out in the garage and then hear squirrel squealing. Sure nuff- they'd be up in the tree rippin' the poor guy apart.

We've got a lot of hawks in my back yard wooded area. Not as many squirrels as we used to. My father lives in a wooded area also and a few months back he had a live fish flopping around in his back yard, despite having no water within walking distance. Apparently a hawk couldn't hold onto it and dropped it while flying over head.
