Personally I think M.net is the Disney Channel of the miata world...which is fine by me - BUT Catman is an enormous *****...and we have serious issues...hope I never pass by him while he's on fire...because I wouldn't **** on him to put him out.

That being said...what happens at M.net should stay at M.net...kinda like Vegas and Ukrainian prostitutes.

Well, just my personal experiance with headrest speakers, while we are on this topic... I upgraded from the factory pieces of **** (and thats probably giving them too much credit), to some nice 3 way Pioneer 4'' speakers. It is a tight fit, but they surely add alot of sound from behind. Some people say "you dont need a radio, its a convertable", or that you dont need that much sound from behind, natural sound should be from the front, but it really does make it easier to hear music clearly. Mine point slightly outward, maybe 15 degrees, which I think kind of helps bounce the sound off of the window, or at least angle it out to the ears, since they are too close together and would point at the back of your head if pointed straight ahead. All together, my factory size door speakers, along with the 4x 4'' headrest speakers, and the 50Wx4 head unit, I get pretty damn good sound quality, being a convertable with a good bit of road noise and all.

You honestly think I give a **** what goes on in the audio / electronics forum at miata.net? I think I visited that folder a couple of times right after I first joined, quickly realized that there are only so many different ways to ask "what's the best place to mount a pair of 12" kicker subs in my Miata?" and learned to stay away. With all due respect to the administration over there, there are certain types of forums (Audio, N/A Performance, Interior / Exterior, etc) which seem to naturally attract a class of person who I'd just as soon not be reminded are still alive and consuming valuable oxygen.

That said, M.net has their own style of management, just as we have ours here. Gary wishes to run a very friendly, "kid-safe" sort of place, and that's fine with me. His mods are expected to act in accordance with his policies, and with only a couple of exceptions, I get along just fine with 'em. The only real difference between us and them, to be frank, is that they simply delete offensive content, whereas we sticky it, change your username, and subject you to the on-line equivalent of the pillory for our amusement.

******* best game ever! I havent played that in like... 15 years I guess.

Ive gotten to where I hardly post on m.net anymore. I may ask some stupid questions from time to time, but I dont think I fall into the same class with the typical noobs who ask the same **** over and over again, and the mods over there let it go. If I do rear/post over there its either in the NA section, or the turbo section, sometimes in the media and interior/exterior section.

If you're going to harass us for being heavy-handed, at least choose a thread that's worthy of ridicule. This is a pathetic attempt.
Catman can't handle that Jeff backs his talk up with science while Catman must get kickbacks for his incessant plugging for Nakamichi and McIntosh stuff. All Catman does is repeat crap that's been regurgitated on the internet in every car audio forum for the last 15 years.

More specifically...from 15 years ago.

Side note...glad to see someone else from Maryland...where the men are men and the sheep are scared!

I'm pretty sure that Mark Booth guy is just a grumpy old man who has nothing better to do. I kind of feel bad for him, have you seen his car?

If it makes you feel any better he recently deleted some of my posts. Why you man ask? Because along with pics of my Miata I posted a pic of my Civic. He said 'people come to m.net expecting to see just that. Miatas.'

And so I suppose posting a picture of a Civic is an offense over there. It's almost like this guy is a bully looking to **** people off. His online personalty matches his avatar picture perfectly.

Reading Jeff's posts is torture, similar to reading James Joyce. He uses five times more words than are necessary to convey whatever point he's trying to make. He is right though about the headrests being miswired, and if he didn't constantly post about that I might have just thought that all headrest speakers sucked and never fixed it.

Catman does indeed plug Nak to no end, and trying to achieve audiophile level SQ in a Miata is one of the most pointless endeavors I could imagine. But it was his posts that made me at least look at Naks. I wound up buying a CD45z, but more for its inconspicuous OEM looks. It does sound pretty good, although at 70 mph SQ is a mere afterthought even with the top up. Catman would probably **** on the carpet if he knew I run a CD45z and a set of MAX5 headrest speakers.

M.net is generally not overmoderated; in fact I think it's (generally) too lightly moderated. A lot of people post there thinking they're helping but in fact are contributing nothing, and the overriding culture there is usually too polite to just delete the BS. One thread I remember that was more subtly maddening, the OP asked for a bolt size. People replied with what size socket to use, then the 6pt vs 12pt comments ensued, then a discussion of diameter, length and thread pitch but without the numbers. Basically, everything that could have possibly been said on the matter EXCEPT the answer to the ******* question. That had gone on for 12 hours, and it took me precisely three minutes to go out to the garage, remove and measure the bolt in question, and post a reply. If m.net was overmoderated, the only two posts to not get deleted would have been the original question, and the answer.
