Default Time for new gauges, Omori Meter FAIL FAIL FAIL

I bought a $200 Omori water temp gauge abotu 1-year ago. I thought the sender died earlier this week, MS reads the factory sensor and it's 180*, while the Omori gauge reads 230*f. Going over bumps or slapping the dash makes the needle whack-out. I've called J-spec who I bought the gauge from and Omori NA, emailed them both for a week, and no one responds.

Soooooooooo I'm buying VDO stuff now. Save your money and buy the $40 VDO stuff...or maybe these:
http://www.egauges.com/vdo_grou.asp?Series=Cyber_Blue

does anyone run these? Do they sun-wash?

I like these too, but I'm not paying $400:

My friend has the one on the top in his mk3 supra. Very easy to see at night.
Daytime its not bad either, but doesn't light up or dim down according to to sunlight/lack thereof like some of the more expensive stuff.

NGA I wear my sunglasses at night.

Define "not bad" please. I want to me sure I can see them on the track.

Wait, Innovate makes gauges...ok, time to close up this thread.

edit: talked to johnwag, a bunch of them did not work. I guess I'll have to either do VDO which doesn't have enough sweep for my liking, or the digitals.

visibility is about the same as an aem eugo wbo2 on full brightness. and not having a needle to squint at you can check temps with your eyes within a split second instead of squinting at it trying to figure out where tf the needle is exactly.

Well, My gauges are rotated so anything past 12 o'clock is "bad."

I'm just dandy with my standard autometer electric gauges. You can always see a needle in the sun.

...and they've worked for years and years, right? So much for "fancy" stuff, again. I've been down this road before, with the same results.

Why is it so hard to find a full sweep, black bezel, green lighted water temp and oil pressure gauge?

Also:

After 240* water temp, does it really matter anymore?

More than 2 years old, and are fine.

The 3 autometer gauges my dad put in his 442 some 20 odd years ago are still fine too.

http://www.veisystems.com/products.html

I got VEI gauges for boost/vac

and oil temp/pressure.

They are great, easy to see even with top down, adjustable brightness. Numbers would start flashing if your preprogramed LOW or HIGH points were reached. Boost gauge has a recall button - shows highest reached boost.
Good reviews on BMW/Audi/Mazda3 forums.. Good color match for their cars.

Holy ****, I can do water and oil temp for $130 total. buy buy buy

Maybe I'll do water temp/ oil temp; oil pressure/AFR so I can have both gauges in the cluster with 4-outputs.

Thank you so much for that link.

Seems like oil temp threshold needs to be higher on the veisystems one. Isnt 280* oil temp a little high but not like "omg i need to shut down" high?

I've got one of the Spa dual gauges, oil temp & water temp was about $230 IIRC from King Motorsports. Aside from being a bit pricey I'm happy with it. Black face, black bezel, green backlight, never had any visibility problems at all. The built-in warning LEDs for each channel have configurable set points, so you don't have to stare at digits to know if you're okay or not. You can also hook each channel to its own separate warning light/buzzer/whatever if you don't think the built-in LEDs are conspicuous enough.

Of course those VEI ones are cheaper and would accomplish the same thing. But I don't understand why these ******* manufacturers can't make gauges in green. I'm going to convert the DB gauge for my LC-1 to green but it's going to be a small pain in my ***.

I was about to say I just got some VEI gauges for water and oil and will be installing them tomorrow. I know they do no make green, which is what Hustler wants. I will try to get some pictures up once I get them installed.

Trey, grow a pair and get a SPA gauge. Easily the nicest quality harness/senders/gauge I've ever played with. I'll never futz with another Autometer again.

If you really want those VEI gauges to be green, I'm sure it can be done if you're willing to solder a bit. Just have to find the same size 7-segment LEDs plus the light bar(s) that are behind the symbols. If you think that's something you'd ever do, go with the red now. Reason being, the red LEDs typically are spec'ed for the same voltage as the green ones, whereas the blues run off a slightly higher V.

Or just get Spa gauges. They really are nice; price is their only problem IMO. Their gauges have remained basically unchanged for 10 years (maybe more, but my dad's had one in his RX-7 for about that long). The price wasn't a big deal when they were the only kid on the block to offer those features, but they are still expensive as **** today even though other manufacturers are now offering basically the same functions for 1/4th the price. I will say though, the build quality is top shelf. You're paying out the ***, but it's for finely marbled Kobe beef and Opus One.

I love the SPA gauges but their sensors are expensive too. I have two gauges that someone gave away to me and the price of the sensors alone is like 80% of the price of the whole kit. So no point in trying to sell them or use them.
