Nice power/torque curves, and not knocking their numbers or the kit, but the car they used did have a built engine (what compression since the 99 was higher compression to begin with?) as well as headwork on the already better flowing 99 head (oversized valves/PNP?) so you would wonder what the numbers would look like on a stock 1.8.
Again, not knocking their numbers or the kit, it looks very nice, just not necessarily an apples to apples comparison with a "stock" engine. Depending upon how much work went into the engine, numbers could be far different. |

I noticed it was similar to my turbo above 4500 rpm. below that I am about 50-60 ft-lbs down on the super. |
What's the setup on that car? I've searched FM's site high and low and I can't find it.

It's a nice car, sure, and the torque curve is very good, but it's nothing a turbo can't do for way less money. Sorry if I'm not impressed with a built '99 motor that can only make 220lb.ft of torque at 14psi.

I agree. SC's since the mp62 is being used are much more appealing, particularly with pricing under 3K. Sure DIY turbo you can get alot more for the money but for a bolt on ready to go kit with support the pricing doesn't seem that bad. Figure out affordable fueling and tune and it's an option worth considering. |
$3k is pretty expensive, IMO. The majority of the costs of turboing a Miata are the "fueling and tune" and the rest of the crap that goes along with it. I didn't exactly cheap out on my setup and I spent $1600 on the actual hardware bits. The rest of it was radiator, clutch, exhaust, Megasquirt, gauges, blahblahblahblabhal.

but you got a used T25, you need look comparative to a New T25 , there are no used parts from this market yet.
Specially with my MSPNP supercahrger is very appealing. I would need dimensions off the actual hot side assembly. |

If I had bought a brand-new ball-bearing Garrett, vs. the brand-new oil-journal Garrett I actually did buy, it would have added $750 to the price. $2300 < $2750 and I'd be getting even more spool and more torque. As far as useable powerband, I wish I had my dyno charts scanned into the computer. 200lb.ft at 3000rpm and 180lb.ft at 6000rpm is plenty useable. :) |
