I have Comcast and BBCA doesn't show season 13 starting, all they are playing is repeat episodes today.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the only way to get the new BBC2 episodes on this side of the pond is bittorrent.

There is a website that posts the show in complete download format about 6 hours after it's shown. I can't remember the name of the site.

Actually Finalgear usually has it up sooner than 6 hours. I'm usually able to download it and watch it the same Sunday it airs in the UK.

The episode starting at 4:00 didn't have a description so i had assumed it was the new one :(

The episodes that BBCa carries are, at best, one season behind. Strangely, they seem to just throw up whatever episodes they have lying around at the time without regard for sequence, and they re-play the shit out of them on consecutive days. Also, they're cut-down to fit in a US-spec 1 hour timeslot; the originals are actually a full hour long, commercial-free.


On a related note, I just found out today that the Top Gear America project was apparently scrapped several months ago. On the one hand, I really kinda wanted to see if they could do a better job of it than the Aussies. On the other, I expect not.

I'm kinda glad there won't be a Top Gear America. Just like people in the US assume you mean NASCAR when you say you're a racing fan, I'd imagine the same would happen with Top Gear vs. "Gear".

yeah. its meant for colleges and stuff like that where you all are on the same network. it is just stupid fast. 3 seconds for a song, 3-10 minutes for a high def movie.

You know, I really love remote access and public WiFi. I logged into one of the servers in the WCBS master control room from the SRQ airport this afternoon while waiting for my flight, installed utorrent on it, and started the download. Just got into Manhattan and checked it from the hotel, and it's sitting there waiting for me to retrieve it tomorrow.

So I grabded the file with bittorrent, came across as an avi. But I just get audio, no video, in Windows Media and Winamp. Looks like maybe I am missing a codec. Anyone have any idea what I need?

OK I am going to dance on the edge of a spoiler here, but I just have to say that the car the Stig drove for the timed lap sounded as good as... well, donning a Clarkson voice, "Screaming orgasms from the females during a three way with Keira Knightley and Angelina Jolie"

It wasn't the real stig driving, it was the owner of the FXX driving.

Like I said, trying not to spoil it for those who have not seen it yet. Your statement and a very quick internet search reveals a surprise detail of the episode.

I agree on the head explosion. Do we want to call "too bad, should have seen it by now" on the spoilers? I do not think the title can be marked as a spoiler, since it would be a catch-22. You need to open the thread to get the episode, but you do not want to look at the thread if you have not seen the episode yet.

indeed. the funny thing about the stig is that in some video on youtube when the top gear staff was filming in i forget where, the stig was talking to the reporter and the voice is indeed who the stig is. that was about 8-9 months ago that video came out also

OK the spoiler cuffs are OFF! :)

Yeah you can tell it is his too from the color since supposedly he has the only FXX that is black. So as soon as they showed the Black FXX, one could guess that Schumacher was in the Stig suit, at least for that episode. That car sounds freaking amazing, and one could tell from the lap that it was really, really fast. Awesome. Also, I wonder if any of the other FXX owners could have talked Ferrari into letting them take 'their own' car to the Top Gear track.

But yeah, I think they were, in a joking manner, making it clear at the end of the show that Schumacher is not the Stig. Awesome if true, but unlikely IMO. After all, he would have been working as The Stig while still driving for Ferrari, assuming he has always been The Stig. And his time was/is worth a tremendous amount of money. Though they could have filmed during the off-season I suppose...

Still though, I was laughing when he took off the helmet. Then when Clarkson started asking him questions at first like all that mattered was The Stig 'had been revealed', and that it was Schumacher was of no consequence. Schumacher went along with it too. Funny stuff. I wonder how many in the studio crowd (if anyone) did not know who he was at first when he took off the helmet?

I'd guess the sort of Briton who has the opportunity to see Top Gear live is also capable of recognizing one of the sport's most iconic faces... ;)

But yeah, you could tell from the way the driving suit looked on him that he hadn't been the Stig this whole time. It was already plainly revealed to be someone else, a touring car driver, but his name escapes me at the moment. Probably doesn't help that I just got off of a 24-hour shift.

What I was suggesting is Schumacher is not the Stig. It's his personal car that he can only get delivered from Ferrari at real race tracks. You think he's going to let anyone else drive it? He donned the suit as a joke. I would have like to have seen his time in the ecomny car for realz though.

Yeah they should have let him drive the econo car for real. It would be interesting to see how badly he could smoke all other celebrities. Are there any other world-class pro drivers on the celebrity board?
