The Stig is just a role. Many people are playing it depending on the day and who is around. The last episode Schumacher was the one playing the role.

Jenson button, Lewis Hamilton, mark webber, nigeal Mansell, and one other F1 driver have all been on top gear and haves special F1 lap time board. I'm pissed they didn't have MSC do a real lap, he would of killed. I'm fairly certain the stig is Ben Collins, a professional stunt man and le mans racer.
Who is the Stig? The answer - Telegraph

interestingly, he was Daniel craig's stunt double for the driving scenes in quantum of solace.

Well, I'd been avoiding this thread until I'd had a chance to watch the episode, on the ground I figured there'd be spoilers.

The Ferrari FXX. I am just truly, utterly speechless. It defies physics.

It also defies the rules for being on the laptimes board, as it's not street legal.

Great comments on the lotus. should have been the lapping car though. no fun watching an enclosed wheel F1 car do a street car competition.

btw, Schu-Stig's mannerisms when he walked on stage were very un-Stig-like. not enough stick up his ass or something.

and anyone who didn't see the reserve tank snafu coming...

Agree Joe, if the FXX can be on the board, then the Caparo T1 deserves to be there as well.

on the wikipedia page, it used to have a tag that said not street legal, but it seems to have been removed.

At the risk of relying upon Wikipedia as a definitive reference, it currently states "FXX owners also participate in Ferrari's testing and brand development programs. As the vehicle is not street-legal, owners have the option of storing the car at Ferrari's facilities. "

To support this, the Germany tuning company Edo Competition have acquired one and modified it to be road legal.

When Jeremy shows us a picture of a stock FXX with a tax disc and registration plate affixed, it can go on the board.

As an aside, there is now an "improved" version of the FXX, called the Evolution, for those who felt that the old version was just not quite up to par. Redline is increased 1,000 RPM to 9,500, shift speed is improved to 60ms, and power output is now 860hp. Modifications to the rear diffuser and flaps produce a claimed 25% improvement in aerodynamic efficiency. Ferrari unveils FXX Evolution Package - MotorAuthority - Car news, reviews, spy shots

"The ultra-exclusive Ferrari FXX isn’t just any new model but is in fact a development test-bed for new technologies that will eventually filter across to Ferrari’s future road cars."

haha rich suckers are funding ferrari's R&D!

and jizzing the whole time.

I was about to purchase an FXX, but I thought it was a little weak on power, and the aerodynamics package could be improved. Now that the new version is available, I think I'll go ahead and get that one :jerkit:

It is kind of lame that the car 'has' to be kept at Ferrari (unless of course you are the F1 driver with the most wins ever). But if I had the means, I would be all over that. If I had that kind of money, I would already have an Enzo anyway, and be living at Lake Como, so keeping it at the factory would be OK with me. That car is just awesome.
