As shitty as that car (truck?) seems to be, the builder did the right thing and spent next to nothing on it. No one's obviously spent any money on it very recently.

 

That master cylinder looks like it's about to flake away.

 

At least he used purple primer. I hear it will hold 350 whp!!

 

While laughing at this, I'm in the midst of talking myself out of using a copper 3" 90* w/ a hole drilled in it and a 1" copper nipple braised in the side of it for my CAI and IAC hose.

I can't come up w/ ANYTHING else to do it and have enough room thanks to my Egay manifold placing the turbo in a crappy spot.

That's essentially the only part holding me back from getting my car off jackstands.

I lose.

 

What's with the tee right after the turbo? Is that where the boost gauge will tie in? That PVC is rated to what? A minimum of 80psi burst pressure? The rubber boots are for a gravity drain system, though.

Let's see... The pressure in the carb will try to overpower the fuel pump's attempt to put fuel into the carb, the carb floats might collapse under pressure, the little vacuum hoses with no clamps will pop off. I guess he does have a MSD box, so maybe he's got the boost retard device.

I guess this is what happens when a lawn irrigation installer cuts loose...

 

If you look closely at the MSD box I believe it is a 6AL, not a retard box. So he is running a hotter ingnition system, on boost, with most likely no extra fuel. Should make for some great fun on first drive

That is a Toyota pickup or 4runner. If it's a 4runner the motor is from no later than '84 since '85 and up were EFI (I have an '85), if it's a pickup it could be even earlier. Engine is a 22R. They actually made a 22RTE turbo 4Runner but those all had auto trannies that sapped back half the power. It was "mildly" boosted and made something like 160 hp versus like 110 hp for the N/A. The factory turbo parts aren't common, but I think you can buy T3 flanged manis on ebay. Most of the offroad crowd looking for more power will just swap in a V8 rather than bothering with a turbo setup.

Judging by the general condition under the hood, that truck gets submerged in mudholes from time to time. This is clearly the work of a redneck, although there is a curious lack of duct tape and baling wire. The wheeling crowd is accustomed to having **** break on them, but I don't think that builder will be expecting it to fail as quickly as it will.
