Do any of you guys watch UFC. If so, did you see the fights that were going last night? Randy Couture is now the heavyweight champion at 43 years of age. In one word, incredible.

turbopezz 03-04-2007 05:27 PM

boostinsteve 03-04-2007 05:36 PM

It was an incredible fight. That guy is just an amazing athlete.

adbradley 03-04-2007 05:42 PM

last night was one of the best nights of UFC i have ever seen, matt huges kicked some ass, rich franklin kicked some ass, and the watching randy cature come stormin out of the corner and knock silvia down on his as in the first few seconds was just great, well worth the money

ps see my "its working" thread in the megasquirt forum to see what happened after the fight

airbrush1 03-04-2007 08:09 PM

matt hughes hardly kicked any ass..... that fight should have NEVER gne to a decision... he's afraid to lose.... and he will lose again soon I can see it coming

As for the Silvia fight I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER it was about time that sloppy bastard lost a fight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

chuckerants 03-04-2007 08:38 PM

I went to see the first UFC in Denver CO waaaay back when. Me and a buddy took turns driving 16 hours from LA to Denver through the Rockies in the winter in a CRX without chains. That was stupid. lol

The event itself as a letdown for a lot of people who have never heard of the Gracies or Brazilian JJ, but completely expected for those who knew. The UFC was basically a long commercial for the Gracie Family.

It was predicted by my instructor at the time, Paul Vunak who had been training with Rickson Gracie for a while that once the general American public "discovers" BJJ, the Brazilians would no longer dominate the sport - now look at UFC and the NHB sport in general.

My muay thai instructor is fighting MMA in April, i am sooo stoked so go see him fight

btw: Mirko Cro Cop will take over UFC

boostinsteve 03-04-2007 11:45 PM

Cro Cop is definately going to push the level of the competition. I just think that it is trully amazing that Randy got the belt again. My boss keeps telling me that I need to start getting back into fighting. He is currently a kickboxing instructor out here at a gym.

savior 03-05-2007 01:00 AM

I do muay thai.. i know a little BJJ but i dont think i'd ever fight UFC, Pride, or K-1. the gloves are too small for my pretty face lol

anyone else here do a martial art?

Loki047 03-05-2007 01:29 AM

taekwondo (red belt), wreastling (won spots on varsity all 4 years), and getting the crap beat out of me daily from the ages of 9-15

turbopezz 03-05-2007 01:40 AM

im not in karate school, but i get into some fights every now and then.
but i shadow box and punch this brick wall in my basement with 14once boxing gloves.also i wrestle with my little 60pound brother(oh yea that brings up your confidence)

but the last fight i got into went so smooth, because i was watching ufc and paying attention to what to do when you take it to the floor.and i practice taking down and elbowing, headbutting and punching a 90lbs leather car seat.

so i threw a fake punch at this kid,he steped back and i tackled him.i landed ontop of him but he had my wrists,so i started head butting him, then was able to get a elbow up and started to smash his face.broke both my arms free and just started to unload on him.them my neighbor came over and grabbed me and i stopped.

but it came so natural to me this time,i was flowing smoothly.i wasnt even amped up.

turbopezz 03-05-2007 01:44 AM

also my friend was the 140lb allstate wrestling champ and i would i always, wrestle him i would put up a damn good fight at 95lb or so..

and my older brother would beat the shit out of me all the time up intill about 3 years ago.

boostinsteve 03-05-2007 02:08 AM

Brown belt in Kenpo when I was a lot younger, started taekwondoe, but did not get very far, and did grappling for 3 years back in high school when I was not wrestling. I have been getting back into grappling slowly ever since I got off my submarine.

How old are you?

Splitime 03-05-2007 10:02 AM

Stupid UFC caused covers at the local bars for watching the game. Had to pay 5 bucks to just get in so we could drink and play pool.

From the glimpses of the fights... looked like people payed for gay porn from all the grappling going on :p

TurboTim 03-05-2007 11:17 AM

Any videos of the fights online? You have to pay for them at UFC's site. Bla.

fmowry 03-05-2007 02:30 PM

Unfortunately UFC has their lawyers all up on youtube.
