UPS Nightmare!!

Last week I got a torsen swap kit...Boxes mangled..axle caps popped off and missing...grease everywhere...and bearings missing.W.T.F.:vash: Then today I get a finish panel from someone on the site...and guess what...yup UPS fuc*#d it up again! Filing a claim as we speak..maybe I'll get it fixed and painted to match for free:fawk: Oh shit...I got some seats being delivered tomorrow....I can't wait to see the driver:magna:

Dam n that sucks man. I can sympathize. I got a fiberglass body kit in the mail with two big cracks in it via UPS. They should rename UPS to DOWNS.

For the record I hate UPS and try to refrain from using them at all costs. However, most times its the seller/packer to blame for shit like that.

I spent over 2 hours packing my FM exhaust that I sold on ebay. I watched the UPS driver hurl it into the truck and kick it into place (I really had to hold my temper there). The FM hood I sold, that took a total of about 3 hours, maybe 4.....guy got it yesterday and said it was the best packaging he has ever received on a hood. Same with the exhaust....no problems.

If the time is taken to pack the shit properly, the delivery guys can really hammer the thing around before they fuck anything up. Like I said I HATE UPS, but I've learned over the years that you need to pack shit like its gonna be dropped 10ft onto cement....then run over by a truck. :bang:

Goodluck with the claim! :)

hmm, next time you'll get it from me and it will come undamaged. it's all in the packing. we have less than .01% of shipments damaged.

paul 05-07-2008 05:41 PM

I had it packed up pretty well. Truthfully, it's the only item I've ever shipped that has been received damaged. Mike, as I said in the email we will work something out if the UPS claim doesn't work out.

Mabye if you'd answer your emails or PM I could get things from you :magna: I need 1.6 ignitors, 1.8 engine harnesses, and a rear diff housing :)

Arkmage 05-07-2008 06:41 PM

at least they didn't entirely lose it... like fedex did with my RX7 diff. BTW, it hasn't just the spool section, i bought the whole unit housing and all. fedex lost the whole thing.

i worked at a UPS hub for like almost a year. the problem is that everyone is made to rush. you can't take your time to handle boxes safely, it always just GO, MOVE FASTER, HUSTLE, and so on. and there are a ton of ghetto nig nogs that just dont give a damn about anyone's stuff is a really big reason too.

I got the email, kept meaning to remember to respond to you here in PM after work. Never remembered. I understood what you were going for, but I can't give you pricing that would work out for your needs.

Except for the alum housing. I probably can help with that. I'll check tomorrow.

Oh, and about PMs here, my limit is 1000. I usually have 1000 in the box, with several of them unread. If I read and delete one, then another fills its place. Lotsa noobs asking shit they could search for and such. So I've pretty much given up checking unless there's something I'm expecting to see.

I work at a mailboxes etc where they pack and ship things and the ups drivers pretty much always have to chuck the stuff in the back of the truck.

But packing things is fun, especially when you have lots of materials and boxes to throw knives at! Bubble wrap and non shattering packing chips ftw.

Vashthestampede 05-08-2008 01:17 AM

In the past 2 months I've packed up 52 things that I sold on ebay. That includes the exhaust, hood, 2 intercoolers, manifold, wheels, video games, etc etc.

I went on USPS.com and ordered a fucking TON of free boxes. I have over 150 boxes in my basement, probably 15 different shapes and sizes...all for free. And for packing, I use the paper they roll out on the doctor's benches, that thin paper shit that always rips when you sit on it. That stuff is crazy cheap and when you crinkle it up, bingo, best packing material for the $$$.

When I shipped like a dozen servers I just used old blankets. I love to pack shit and do the whole shipping process, its just getting motivated to pack up X amount of boxes that day that sucks. :bang:

Used finish panels are very brittle and proned to shatter on shipment...or on install for that matter. Yet another reason to buy a new one.

My UPS driver is pretty much badass I owe him a xmas card or something this year after all the crap he has to deliver to my apartment.
