The last dozen times I crossed the border it was from detroit to windsor. Only half of those time did they even ask for my license, none the less my passport. I also used to drive parts back and forth a bit for work and they never once asked me about the truck loaded with palletes. I think your hardtop will be perfectly smooth going.
