USPS Tracking BS
I've been using USPS Flatrate to ship stuff for quite some time and shipped probably a hundred small packages over the years. I've only had problems twice:
Side note: My favorite part is when I post something new in box, completely unused @ 75% of retail and then someone offers me 50% of retail and wants me to ship it for free.
- I shipped a manifold flange and cashiers check to Chesterfield, NJ
- I shipped a rifle stock & barrel to Chesterfield, NJ

USPS has issues shipping gun parts. Sometimes they go through (real small stuff) but if they're easily identified they'll get held up.
No harm in asking...
But you're right about lowballing.

Oh yeah, no harm no foul. It just sucks that everyone expects you to eat shipping on stuff you obviously bought new AND already paid shipping on once before.
I've never had any problems shipping USPS Flat Rates. Its my preferred method. I hate UPS's costing structure. I sent a set of sunvisors to NY and it cost me $23.00 for a box that weighed less than 2lbs because it must have gone to the next cube size.
I've done a lot of business with all three over the years, and USPS is far and away the worst of the big three. FedEx has institutional flaws (Express, Ground, and Home Delivery are all separate companies with separate hubs) but you can still get good service if your driver(s) is/are good. UPS has the superior business model, but a bad UPS driver will still ruin it for the entire system. In the end, I get the best results from UPS, almost entirely owing to my unbelievably awesome local driver.
